    Paranormal Pipe

Maybe the ghost didn't like the "Old San Francisco" I had just lit up. I'll try an aromatic tonight :-)

    Paranormal Pipe

Last night, around 1 am after returning home from work, I went to my "office" for a relaxing smoke. As I sat puffing with contentment and reading an old Aviation magazine there was a loud crack like a gunshot. Something ricocheted off a wall and landed on the carpet in front of me. It was a...

    Tuesday Antique Store Run

Lucky695, I would have bought that Sav in a heartbeat! I left behind a number of pipes I'll go back to check out in detail this coming weekend. One was nice looking meerschaum in a case for $12.50. I'm sort of kicking myself for not just buying everything and sorting it out at home.

    Tuesday Antique Store Run

Here's the "Made for Peterson's reamed, cleaned and polished. And yes, the pipe is well drilled  And here is the Charatan box the P.Viou came in. I'm hoping the Charatan will show up on my next visit!

    Tuesday Antique Store Run

I made my monthly visit to the local antique store this afternoon. While not experiencing any eureka moments, I did find a couple of pipes of interest. The first one caught my attention because it was in an immaculate looking Charatan box with the label "Shape No. 47" on it. I quickly looked...

I Lost My Best Friend Yesyerday

Your words have touched me. Life is short and we need to spend more time with our family and friends. You will always have your memories of your best friend. "Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted".

    Ropp horn stem pipes

I'm really glad I read this thread. I've got an old estate Ropp pipe with a metal tenon that fits into a cork lined shank. I thought the stem had some oxidation that I've been patiently sanding away on. I now realize the stem is horn.

    Dead Man's Cellar

I'm hoping these canopic jars will keep my tobacco fresh for the next 2000 years or so until a curse awakens me. Actually, I've given word to my sons that they can do whatever they want with my pipes and tobacco. I'm starting to catalog everything now so they will know the approximate value of...

    Was I Duped?

I've been getting a lot of USPS tracking numbers that never update from my ebay purchases recently. Maybe the post office is undergoing some sort of technology "upgrade".

    Laquer Coming Off

Captainprophesy, you are very observant! But wouldn't there be a point where more vigorous treatment would actually look over done or further degrade the appearance? I've seen pipes that have been sanded down to the bare wood, and while that solves one problem it often seems to create others...

Pipe tobacco for when you retire

I am blessed to be able to retire five years early starting next month. My every day smoke is PS Balkan Supreme but I also enjoy Sutliff's Blend No 5. They are both economical, dependable and taste great! Larry's B;end is right up there.

    Laquer Coming Off

Here's an old KB&B Yello Bole I got for a few bucks that had a some really bad lacquer blisters. Just a few wipes with an acetone soaked pad, some buffing a waxing, and there is now no sign of the problem. The acetone dries within a second or two of application. It doesn't soak in. Did the...

    Laquer Coming Off

Acetone on a small cotton pad will remove a lacquer finish very quickly. Then you can just buff and wax.
