    Pipe Room

My smoking room is in a similar situation as yours, a small finished room in the basement under the garage. I keep my tobacco jars in the cool, dark unfinished part of the basement because I thought it might age better under those conditions. I don't know if that's actually true. Still, not...

My First Mr. Brog Pipe. Let's See Yours. (pics)

If anyone ever asked me what pipe to buy in that price range I'd say buy a Stanwell when they are on sale. I have several and they have never failed me. I can't say that for Mr Brog pipes. I bought a Mr Brog mandolin shaped straight pipe that is too heavy to clench and uncomfortable to hold. It...

My First Mr. Brog Pipe. Let's See Yours. (pics)

I've got this poker from Mr Brog. It's not bad, but gets a little hot at the narrower part of the bowl. I have to use a 9mm filter with it to get a proper draft.

Stanwell...Good or Not so Much ?

The word for drinking and smoking is the same in Japanese....if you'd rather use that excuse =)

    Show Us Your Centenarians

I think this WDC Round Top should be around the 100 year mark. This KB&B Selkirk may qualify as well.

How Many of You Lucky Dogs Get to Smoke Inside?

When we moved into our present house we spent a lot of time and sweat removing layers and layers of tobacco smoke residue from the walls and ceilings. I vowed never to smoke in this house after that. I'm fortunate to have a fully finished and heated room in the basement under the garage that I...

Show Off Your Smallest Briar Pipes

This must be my smallest, a tiny Yello Bole about 4 inches in length and weighs about 1/3rd of an ounce.

    Is Spain In Pipe Manufacturing?

I have two pipes in my collection that were made in Spain. They are estates so I don't know which factories they may have come from. The "Bamboo Briar" pipes seems to be pretty common. I like the size and feel of that one.

Anyone else feel wierd about smoking an estate pipe?

A guy came up to once and said that my pipe reminded him of his departed uncle. I told him there's a chance this IS his uncle's pipe =)

Are Jet Flame Lighters Actually Bad?

Here's what it looks like. I warned the owner of this pipe not use torch lighters. That pipe is less than a year old. Quite a mess.

    Flu Shots, If You Will

I feel compelled to say that there are good pharmaceutical companies out there doing lots of worthwhile research and producing quality products. Allergan is one that comes to mind as one of the good guys. One of the reasons they have lobbyists is because they are so heavily regulated. If...

    Flu Shots, If You Will

After working in hospitals for 40 years and seeing the complications from some of the diseases vaccines prevent, I've decided to take my chances with the vaccines. It's like the car seat belt argument. Yes, under certain conditions you might find yourself struggling to free yourself from your...

Moving From Windows Vista To Windows 10.....Any Surprises In Store?

The last OS I got excited about was DOS 5. DOS Shell was awesome. That said, Windows 10 runs my games effortlessly with minimal driver overhead. It's worth taking the time to disable all the privacy invasion stuff if you are into gaming or virtual reality applications.

    Learning to Smoke?

I'd say it took me about 45 years. I'm a slow learner. Once I started reading these forums things picked up quite a bit and I had it down within a year!

    Disinterested wife?

Being as my wife and I are retired, I think it would fatal if we shared the same interests. As it is, we both have varied hobbies and move around in different circles. That gives us more to talk about when we are together. I know she has about as much interest in pipes, Early Music, and aviation...
