Pipe Room

I was not sure which forum this belonged in so if MODS need to move no worries. (this one seems to get a large amount of traffic)
I have lived in my house for 20 years, I have had thoughts of a "boys room" or a "man cave", but never took the plunge. Now that I am back into pipe smoking after a long break, I am no longer happy only outside or next to my car in the basement.
We have an extra "room" on the back side of the basement, I am in the midst of getting it finished, (drywall, paint, casing around the doorways, ceiling fan) This will be my room,
The question I have is, how best to store my "cellar" in the room, what piece of furniture to buy to rest my pipes on and load up with the 30 mason jars of my current rotation? Love to see your situation, furniture and get your suggestions.

I smoke everywhere in my house and store my tobacco in the living room closet.

Here's the cabinet that I purchased at IKEA. Listed as office furniture, $89.99 and comes in a few colors.

You have a car in your basement?

I'd say totally personal preference depending how fancy or not you like. If your going w wood just avoid pressboard, esp in a basement. And if real wood is too pricey than go w steel or plastic. The mason jars are the key. As long as they're out of daylight and room temp or a lil cooler your good.

I bought kitchen cabinets to store my tobacco. My pipes are in racks placed on my desk and bookshelf in the den.

If there is any imaginable chance of flooding, which happens in unexpected places these days, store everything above shoulder height, cabinets or high shelves.

This is probably the best practice.
Storage and display are matters of taste or practicality.

Listen to MSO!! My basement flooded in 2014 (2 feet of water). Luckily I had my jars of open tins in a deep plastic tub that was on the floor but didn’t capsize when it floated. My sealed tins did get wet, but the next day I sanitized them and thoroughly dried them. No sign of rust since then. Suffice to say the cellar has been moved upstairs

My smoking room is in a similar situation as yours, a small finished room in the basement under the garage. I keep my tobacco jars in the cool, dark unfinished part of the basement because I thought it might age better under those conditions. I don't know if that's actually true. Still, not having all those jars taking up space in my smoking room is a plus.

Thanks for the tip on the basement. Right now my work bench is the storage place for pipes and jars. I agree the furnature to house everything is personal preference, I was looking for ideas as right now I'm all over the place. My wife suggested a dining hutch, but that seems a bit over the top.

I've put an end to it, no more buying until I finished all my pipe tobacco. I have a TV furniture and cabinet in my living room that scream "No more". That should take two lifetimes :D

I found a great cabinet that holds most of my pipes. At least the current ones in rotation.

I have wooden pipe racks on each shelf, 7 pipes per rack on 6 shelves. 42 pipes with room to spare behind the pipe racks. My cellar is in large plastic totes in a bedroom closet.
