    ISO Disney Pipe

Here's my Main Street tobacco store smoking pipe. Definitely looking a little sad these days. The hat is from about the same time.

    The Great Reddit (Libation Migration)

My biggest beef with Reddit is that many of the subreddits are not there for discussion but rather are a safe meeting place for whatever tribe has issues there. For instance, there might be a thread on /latestagecapitalism that makes it all the way to front page because it got upvoted so much...

Too Many Pipes ... Or Not

Yeah, my wife tells me I have a pipe problem. The only problem I have is which one to work on next =)

    ISO Disney Pipe

I bought a pipe there using my Disney employee discount. That must have been around 1974. Unfortunately, the pipe has no branding on it at all. It's not of particularly good quality and I haven't smoked it in years. I kick myself for not buying one with the Disney logo on it!

Stupid Mistake! or, How I Inconvenienced 4 People

Ah, the best laid schemes..... Similar thing happened to me at one of those quick oil change places. They lost the cap to the windshield washer reservoir tank. they told me to pick one up at the auto parts store and they would knock ten bucks off my bill. As I was pulling out of the driveway...

    Tankard Pipe Recommendations?/Atlantic Pipe

I've got a Tsuge tankard I like a lot. Recommended, but it might be a little small for some.

Oops! My Wife Saw My Customs Invoice

@mso489 Has that been your experience? For me the reaction has been more of shocked surprise. People here in Oregon are pretty nice though. The further you go away from the cities you more you will encounter civility and displays of hospitality.

What's Your Favorite Pipe Smoking Movie?

I watched the mesmerizing film, Loving Vincent last night. There was hardly a scene without a pipe in it. Here's the trailer on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC3dqQPunKs

dave g wrote: Happy ending to this. What I thought was a bit poking through the air hole was actually the metal part of fossilized pipe cleaner. So I went into the shank with 5/32 drill bit and was able shred the pipe cleaner enough get all the fragments out. Usually when use power tools I end...

Another Good Day at the Antique Store (Pics)

@mikethompson I typed the rest into Google Translate: "These heads are made of the finest porosity clay. They absorb the moisture, which causes a pleasant and healthy smoking." I was pleased to find the London Royal briar pipe was made by LHS, a plus for me since I already collect those.

@seacaptain I would hope so but the only thing on them is "Savinelli Product" and "Italy" stamped on the bottom. I imagine that they were around $100.00 or so new based on similar looking pipes. I thought the fact that the original owner bought two of them was interesting. Who would do that?

@mso489, Both the Savs came with the plastic no-filter adapter in the stem.

Another Good Day at the Antique Store (Pics)

I just happened to run into Tom, the guy who brings most of the pipes into the store this afternoon. I got first pick! I'm not so much of a clay pipe collector but Tom took 5 bucks off the price bringing them down to $15 bucks. Who could resist? The side of the box has "Made in Germany" on it...

Here is an Ebay tale of woe. I was happy to get this Viscount shape 40 the other day. It was in outstanding condition with a pretty attractive finish, sharp stamping...everything good. Except when I ran a pipe cleaner through, it stopped halfway into the shank. On close examination I could see...

    FDA Commissioner Speech

After 42 years in pharmacy I could write a book on all the awful things that influenced the industry over the years. I'll say without hesitation that all the current shortages and high prices area due to bad FDA regulations dating from the last half of the Bush administration and picking up...

    Customs ... Just Downright Stupid

I just finished reading the applicable sections of 26 U.S.C. § 5702(c) trying to find an answer. Since that didn't get me anywhere what I've decided I'll do is enroll in law school. In two years I may have an answer for you.
