Hunter's Pipes, Anyone Actually Smoke One?

I do have one of these that I used to smoke quite frequently. Although that was back in the days where I had even less idea of what the hell I was doing. Lucky I put the tobacco in the right end. A good friend and myself would buy a couple ounces of Raspberries and Cream pipe tobacco and puff...

    Esoterica Pembroke

I just finished a rather large bowl of Pembroke this evening. This was my first as I just opened an 8 oz bag of it. I think it is quite good but it seems more sensitive to cadence compared to some other blends I have tried. There was a more pronounced difference in flavors depending on how...

    Plasma Lighters

Elbert has it. Yes they work fine to light a full bowl but with relights you're basically SOL and JWF. I have a 6 arc unit that I bought for the novelty of it (and cheap eBay price). Good for cigars but not really practical for the pipe.

    Received My Nording Woodcock But...

This shot shows the swirls in the black sections of the stem. I don't recall the Chacom looking like this.

    Received My Nording Woodcock But...

I looked at the Chacom Maya pipes and like those as well. But the Nording has an almost iridescent swirl in the black sections of the stem which is very striking and unique. Pictures don't do it justice although I will try to post a picture showing it later when I have a minute.

    Received My Nording Woodcock But...

Is the other (briar) side the side I'm supposed to use? Any of you out there with the same pipe have a tamper that fits metal end first? The way the briar is shaped it seems the 12ga end should be the to use.

    Received My Nording Woodcock But...

Just received my Nording Woodcock but the tamper won't be used much. Doesn't even fit in the bowl lol. Oh well it's still a beauty. I found it in a B&M Thursday and couldn't resist. Had it shipped to me with some tobacco. I'll test it out this afternoon, with a different tamper.

    Woodcock on eBay

I paid just a bit over your 175 for mine this morning but after seeing it in person I couldn't resist. Plus I grabbed a tin of Nording Labrador as well. Not a big aromatic guy but it's tough to beat with a cup of coffee. Didn't think I would see tins of that again.

    Woodcock on eBay

I just bought one of these new and pictures don’t do them justice. There is an iridescent quality to the black portions of the stem as well.

Pirates- (of Penzance and elsewhere): Aaaaaarrrrr!

A pirate walks into a bar with the ships wheel in his pants. Bartender says, "Hey cap'n you know you've got a wheel in yer pants?!" Cap'n replies, "Arghhh it's drivin me nuts!!"

Pirates- (of Penzance and elsewhere): Aaaaaarrrrr!

Me father was King Neptune, me mother was a mermaid. I was born on de crest of a wave and rocked in de cradle of de deep. My eyes is stars, me teeth is spars, me hair is hemp and seaweed; and when I spits, I spits tar. I's tough, I is, I am, I are...

What Size Jars For A Pound of 'Baccy?

Depends on the tobacco. Coins, plugs, and flakes can surprise with how compact they are on a weight/volume basis. Otherwise jpmcwjr has it right in my opinion.

GH Dark Flake Scented Smells Like...

Copenhagen! I don't know why but my first instinct upon opening my bag of Dark Flake Scented is it smells like opening a tin of Copenhagen. It doesn't take like Copenhagen when smoked but the smell is distinctive. What does it's smell remind you of?

That addictive sour oriental herbal sage taste

I would add Sutliff English Oriental to the already mentioned blends. It has a strong oriental herbal/floral flavor profile. For some reason it is a bit under the radar as far as availability. To me it is one of Sutliffs better blends (coming from someone who does not regularly smoke...

Can Anyone Identify This BBB "Custom Made" Pipe?

I just bought this panel billiard BBB which was claimed to be unsmoked. Well I liked the shape and the price even though the markings don't scream BBB. Can anyone shed some light on what this is? It certainly does seem to be unsmoked. It definitely has BBB in a diamond on the shank but no...

    Headed to Moose Camp

With all that tobacco and hooch you're carrying you're going to need a sherpa to carry it all. I volunteer ? In all seriousness best of luck. I loaded a bunch of precision .325 WSM rounds for a coworkers hunt in BC. He said it was a hell of a time. Unfortunately a grizzly beat him to his...

Matchmaking the right pipe to your favorite tobacco

I think it would be difficult to give a definitive answer to your question. Everyone interprets flavor differently and is looking for different flavors. Even the flavors I look for change day to day. You will have to find what works for you at a given time. For me, English blends typically...

    So Who Here Likes Bourbon

If you're looking for peaty Ardbeg may be a good avenue for you. If super peaty is what you're after Ardbeg Supernova or perhaps Octomore are your tickets. Edit: sipping Evan Williams as I type ?
