Jobey Pipe Refurbishment And Contrast Stain

I bought this a long while back with the express intent of stripping it and trying my hand at a contrast stain on it. It was a pretty nice pipe to begin with but it was a rather muted yellow color (looked worse in person). I call it a refurb as opposed to a restoration as the pipe had no major...

How To Remove Stain Without Sanding?

Well I ended up sanding to get to bareish briar. The stamping is a bit lighter but still there. I am happy with the results. I also did an alcohol soak which didn’t do much. It did help to dry out the briar though.

Why Do Pickups Cost Less To Produce?

These threads are a good read, quite entertaining. As for me, I like cars and trucks. I own, drive, and use both. When I haul shit my '94 Ram with the 12V Cummins is the ticket. I can pull a house down, drive through an apocalypse, and frankly it takes and then owns it's piece of road as we...

    GBD "Collector" Oddity

I have an Irwin with the same "Collector" stamping. Interesting that they use that mark on both lines.

    Question On Pipe Tenons

I appreciate the responses. None of my pipes have a delrin tenon that I know of so it is interesting to hear the preferences for its feel. UHMWPE would probably be a good choice also but very difficult to glue in place. I agree a plastic with lower friction would be a good choice. It seems...

    Question On Pipe Tenons

I am trying to build knowledge on pipe construction. Often I see mention of a delrin tenon or some other material. What is the reason the tenon is a separate component of the stem? Why not just turn the tenon out the primary stem material? Could it be a matter of strength or material properties?

    Cigar For HS Graduation?

For mild well known cigars I would say Macanudo. There are many others. I find Dominican cigars usually on the mild side. A nice Montecristo would be in order to keep up with the Jones's. Personally I also like Gispert which has a cedar creamy flavor. Fuentes are a good choice as well as is...

So I Accidentally Bought A Kaywoodie, My Nicest

Well bidding was like $19 then $24, and this is the last 10 seconds of bidding. So I quick upped my bid (using my iphone) instead of typing $35 I accidentally typed $235. So mine was certainly the high bid. Luckily at a not too painful $59 lol.

So I Accidentally Bought A Kaywoodie, My Nicest

I'm not sure yet. I still need to clean up the stinger and sanitize the pipe. Also I am on the tail end of a sinus infection so I can't smell and can barely taste anything. Once that clears out I will give it a good smoke.

So I Accidentally Bought A Kaywoodie, My Nicest

I made a bit of an order of magnitude error on my eBay auto bid and ended up spending more than I planned to on a Kaywoodie auction I was interested in. Boy did I get lucky. What arrived today is one of nicest Kaywoodie Flame Grain pipes I have seen personally. I gave the stem a little...

How To Remove Stain Without Sanding?

I didn't know that and I appreciate the heads up. Maybe I will try some light micromesh first. It's not that the pipe needs a restain. I am just trying to build some skills.

How To Remove Stain Without Sanding?

And where I'm at now. I will sand if necessary but I want to retain the stamping as much as possible. So I will try a soak first.

How To Remove Stain Without Sanding?

This is what I started with. Really not a bad pipe to begin with.

How To Remove Stain Without Sanding?

Thanks for all the tips. I think I'll try the soak next as I have tried everything else but sanding and oxiclean. I will report back on the results.
