    First Bowl Of Burley

Have yet to find a burley I can tolerate. I so desperately want to like Peretti's Thanksgiving blend (among others). I can't get anything from it. No sweetness. Just bitter, acrid smoke that overpowers the casing and anything else in it. I can taste it when it's used in other blends as a...

What Kind of Pipe Loot Did You Get?

Wife went on a Balkan binge!! 2oz of Engine 99, a tin of Black Frigate, a tin of Pirate Kake and a tin of Star of the East Flake! Haven't had any of them!!

    Pipe for the Wife

Hi All! So the wife has decided she'd like her own pipe while sitting around the firepit. She's never really smoked much before, but wants give it a go. What pipe would you buy your wife? Don't want to spend a lot of money since I'm not sure she'll stay with it. Thought about a cob but don't...

My first order in 12 years ... advice needed please.

Two favorite aros are Scotty's Butternut Burley (at Pipes & Cigars) and Milan Tobacco's Colonial Pastime. Neither has flavorings that overwhelm the tobacco. Pastime has a bit of latakia. Wife doesn't mind either!

    Balkan bite

Been working through different balkan blends. Really enjoy Margate, Tashkent, Arango Balkan Supreme amongst others. Opened a tin of Balkan Sasieni 2-3 years ago and cellared it. At the time, I was fairly new to pipe smoking and found it to cause a bit of tongue bite. Opened it back up this...

    Purchasing meers

Hi All! Hope your year is starting great!! I'm interested in purchasing my first meer (not Missouri!). I'm sure there's a big difference in qualities of the various companies that make them. Who do you purchase meerschaum pipes from? What brands are reputable? Who do you trust?

    Starting flakes

Ok. Jumping into flakes. Want to fold and stuff. How do I know how many to use? Flakes and bowls are all different sizes. Where do I start??

    Buying overseas

Hi All! What do I need to know to purchase pipes, tobacco etc from Europe and other non-USA countries? How is the conversion rate determined? How are payments usually handled? What is a "normal" shipping time and do they use UPS exclusively or other vendors? I assume there are countries that...

What Did Your Fathers and Grandfathers Smoke?

My Dad didn't smoke. I'm told his father (my grandfather) smoked 5 Brothers from sunup to sundown. Immigrated from Italy in 1918. Farmer. Probably a pretty tough dude!

If You Had To Do It All Over Again

Had to post! I don't regret the experiences of the past few years of pipe smoking, except the late date at which I started. What I do regret is the era in which I started! Grew up in, and still live in a town with no tobacconist. In fact, the closest is about 50 miles away. The government...

Seasonally Changing Tobacco Preferences and Perceptions

It's the tin. Bought several some time ago. Just starting to work my way through it!!

    Nightcap + ?

Trying to get used to Nightcap. Like it but tend to get a pretty good nic buzz! Starting mixing with a bit of Balkan Sasieni and I like it much better. Any other suggestions on what can be mixed with it?? I know slowing down will help too!

    Similar to Plum Pudding

Hi All! I really enjoy SPC Plum Pudding. Something about the oriental/latakia ("incense") type flavor I really like. What blends are similar? Don't want to replace it, just expand my horizons in this genre!

    Help With Identification??

It didn't cost but a few bucks. He just gave it to me. It will be my first estate "project." Trying to figure out the picture uploading. Not sure if it came out.

    Help With Identification??

Hi All!! Been stalking the website for a few months now! Started smoking pipes when I got tired of the ridiculous prices they're charging for cigars. I'm enjoying it very much. Have purchased a couple of cobs, a Savinelli, a Brigham, a Lorenzetti and a Peterson for Christmas this year...
