    I had been thinking all week how I need to remember to smoke on IPSD just bc that’s fun. Then today rolled around and I didn’t remember that it was IPSD until 2:00 pm. But I did smoke a bowl of Sun Bear this morning as I often do on Sundays so I guess I did it anyways.

    The special reserve is different from the regular. It’s assumed to be better bc it’s labeled “special”. I find the reserve to be smoother, but I feel like the regular has more/better flavor.     It’s funny how some blends can be like that. My first 2 bowls of Capstan Flake (blue) were something special. So far the rest of the tin has been very uninteresting. I’ve never smoked silver flake. Came across a tin at the Briary this summer but wound up grabbing something else instead.

    I think a lot of people feel that they smoke dryer either bc less saliva runs down the pipe or moisture from the smoke doesn’t collect in the shank as much. Also bc proper drilling may be easier to achieve in straight shapes.

    1. Smoke slow 2. Relights are ok 3. Try some non-aromatic tobaccos (no aro hate, just took me too long to try something besides them) 4. Expect it to take a while to get the hang of this 5. Invest in a decent briar pipe.

    Personally I don’t have any that I don’t smoke. I don’t think I’d get a pipe if I didn’t plan to actually smoke it. I get it..but for me if I decide to buy it I’m going to smoke it.
