    Murray's Tobacco--Question About the Brand

I've heard about Murray's before, mostly about them making Dunhill blends a few years ago. Apparently they went out of business in 2005. Here's a Wikipedia page about the company: Murray, Sons and Company - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murray,_Sons_and_Company In 2019 I...

Any News on Warning Labels in the US?

I'm still not sure about what's going on. Today I got a a 100g tin of Orlik Golden Sliced with a date code of July 10, 2020 and it does not have the nicotine warning; the label on front is the old style. My slightly older tins from Orlik have the warning, including one from July of 2018. I...

Edward G. Robinson Pipe Blend Launched (1946)

I forgot to add this article from Smoking Pipes: Edward G. Robinson | Smokingpipes.com - https://www.smokingpipes.com/smokingpipesblog/single.cfm/post/edward-robinson

Edward G. Robinson Pipe Blend Launched (1946)

Thanks for taking that picture. I found it online some time ago and couldn't remember where. I came across it the other day while looking for something else. I did a web search and couldn't find it online or in this forum, so I thought I'd share it.

I apologize if this is a duplicate post, but thought there would be some interest in it here.

Texas Bill to Prohibit Sale of Flavored Tobacco

I think vaping and maybe menthol cigarettes are the primary motivation of those pushing legislation like this. If it were just pipe tobacco you wouldn't hear anything. However when these laws are passed they are enforced on pipe tobacco too. Massachusetts is an example of this.

Texas Bill to Prohibit Sale of Flavored Tobacco

Texas House Bill 3842 would prohibit "flavored cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and tobacco products." The pipe is only mentioned once in the bill, and that is an e-pipe, but if it's like other states, flavored pipe tobacco would be banned. Here's a link to the bill: 87(R) HB 3842 - Introduced...

    Finally A Sale I Don't Care About

Okay, I'll stand up for Captain Black. I like Captain Black original; I find RLP-6 to taste about the same and is cheaper in bulk so I smoke it. I also like CB Royal, which some say is the same as 1-Q. To my taste I like CB Royal a lot better than 1-Q. I recently saw on Pipes and Cigars...

Does Sutliff Have a Bulk Version of Super Value English Mixture?

Thanks that narrows it down to a manageable few to try. The 502 Medium English looks like it might be closest.

Does Sutliff Have a Bulk Version of Super Value English Mixture?

I really like the "American" and "American English" blends, with their burley and Latakia. Super Value English Mixture (made by Sutliff) is one of my regulars. They only sell it in a small pouch. I was wondering if Sutliff had the same blend in bulk? Maybe under a different name? Super...

Minnesota's HF904 Looks to Ban Flavored Tobaccco

Minnesota is attempting to ban flavored tobacco. Here's a link to one article: Proposed ban on flavored tobacco moves ahead - https://www.southernminn.com/st_peter_herald/news/state/article_bd680f6f-7364-55e1-88ca-9c606d64ece2.html

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Currently I'm really enjoying the American (or American English) blends, ones with burley and Latakia. I recently discovered Distinguished Gentleman, and am also smoking a match to Barking Dog. I just ordered some Sutliff BD and hope it's the same as the Match Barking Dog. Lane HGL continues...

Heads Up If You Are a Smoker of Match Blends

I noticed on Pipes & Cigars' website that a few of the Match blends are no longer being produced. Match Hickory, at the end of its description, had the notice "Due to pending regulations, this blend is being discontinued." Others just said "This item no longer available for purchase." I...

I haven't tried a substitute yet, but I'm thinking Carter Hall or Lane BLWB.

Any Update On Illinois Flavored Tobacco Laws

I'm not in Illinois. but Missouri. I did some checking and it looks like no activity on the bill since November of 2019. It looks like Chicago passed a "scaled back" ban on flavored vapes, or e-cigarettes. Here's a link to the Illinois state bill: HB3883 | Illinois 2019-2020 | FLAVORED...

An American English and Burley Mix

I like John Bull, an American English blend. Sometimes when I smoke it I wish it had a little more burley in it so I tried two parts John Bull to one part Prince Albert. I think it's pretty good. I decided it needed a name if I was going to jar it up separate, so a web search for John Bull...

    Prince Albert Really Gone?

FWIW I recently received the January catalog from Pipes & Cigars. They have Prince Albert and Carter Hall both for sale in pouch and 14 ounce can. They do not have the PA vanilla listed. They do have PA cherry vanilla cigarillos for sale. Checking the P&C website, the CH and PA are listed as...

Putting Away Some Aromatics for Prohibition?

I was reminded about a bill that passed the US House of Representatives last year that would have banned flavored tobacco. Massachusetts already has such a law. So my question is what would be the best way to stock some aromatic tobacco for really long term (20+ years)? Would bulk in mason...

    Mixing Tobaccos

Here's two more that are floating around the internet. I can recommend them both.
