    Licorice

Uhle's Blend #255. Have never tried them, but the old Field & Stream & Mixture 79 had some licorice flavor

    Best Caramel Blend???

Dan Tobacco Milonga for sure. Bought a tin of McClelland Caramel Rush but haven't gotten to it yet.

If You had to Choose Only One Va/Per

There are so many great VaPers, but the first one that comes to mind is Solani 633

Mild Tobaccos With Which to Start?

I'd suggest you call Uhles, Boswells, Milan Tobacconists, LJ Peretti, or VTpipes and pose your question to them, asking for their recommendations. Look up reviews of their pipe tobaccos on tobaccoreviews.com & see what might sound good to you. These folks are old-time tobacconists who should...

What's the Oldest Tin in Your Cellar?

I have some MacBaren blends from the late 70's - Symphony, Plumcake, and Burley London Blend. I've only tried the Symphony so far - really interesting to note the difference between something with substantial age and newer renderings.

    Goodbye Summertime 2012 :(

I haven't tried Peterson's Summertime, but I'd also recommend Dan Tobacco's Milonga. Other options I'd recommend: Trout Stream from pipesandcigars.com or Lane LL-7

My LJ Peretti's TAD & New Boswell Pipe

I have become a huge fan of the Peretti blends, plus their B&M store is a real gem. 432 and Ebony are wonderful aromatics. Park Square is a spectacular VaPer. Cuban Mixture is extra special. I've never had a more complex pipe tobacco. You can't go wrong with any of their blends.

How Do You Keep Your Tobacco

Most always I leave tinned pipe tobaccos in their original tin. Bulk tobaccos I store in wide-mouth half-pint mason jars. I pack and press bulk tobaccos into the labeled jars & can usually get 4 oz. in a single half-pint jar. I don't do any special preparation with the jars, other than making...

    Underrated and Recommended

Almost anything by Milan Tobacco. I've tried Jefferson Street, Doctor's Orders, "Our" London Dock, Sunset Rum, & Wall Street. All of their pipe tobaccos are of the highest quality, are not "goopy" & are simply delicious. If you like the aromatics from Uhle's, Vtpipes, and Peretti, give Milan...

    First VaPer Suggestions?

Good intro VaPers: McClelland 2015, Solani 633, & Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake For something stronger: GL Pease Haddo's Delight or Rattray Hal O' the Wynd

    Uhle's tobacco and other ?'s

I"m a big fan of Uhle's pipe tobaccos. They do aromatics exceptionally well. So far I've tried Blend #300, Blend #44, Hunt Club, Karen Club, Old Shoe Blend, Par Shooter Blend, and Seven Star Big Dipper. They have all been terrific. Have you checked their web site? I'm not familiar with...

New order from Milan just arrived!

A few years ago, I was in Roanoke for a meeting and stopped at Milan Tobacconists. This is an old fashioned establishment that really knows how to treat a customer well. I picked up a sampling of their blends and have been buying their blends ever since. At first I tried Jefferson Street & Our...

Recomendations For Someone Crossing Over From Aro's to Va's

My suggestions, based on my own experience as I began transitioning from aromatics to Virginia pipe tobaccos: Astleys No. 109 Virginia Flake Fribourg & Treyer Cut Blended Plug McClelland Virginia Woods Orlik Golden Sliced Reiner Long Golden Flake S. Gawith Best Brown Flake Have fun! Glen

    Peterson Irish Oak

Peterson's Irish Oak for me smokes best in a smaller pipe. The strength becomes subdued and the incredible flavor comes through instead. Good stuff! Glen

    Most Flavorful Aromatics

My answer to jakew's question would be to call any one of the smaller blenders who really really do aromatic pipe tobaccos well. While I'm sure there are many others with whom to check, I would recommend checking their websites, looking at tobaccoreviews.com then calling any of the following...

    Amazing room note

My recommendations for sweet tasting pipe tobaccos with a great room note: Dan Tobacco Blue Note & Sweet Vanilla Honeydew pipesandcigars.com Trout Stream Almost any aromatic blend from Uhles, Boswell, or Milan Tobacconist

    Horst Lichter's Espressotabak

This is a blend that's on my radar & I suspect I'll get around to trying some once I finish some of the blends I already have open. In my experience, most aromatics don't have the same strong flavor as you smoke the bowl down to the bottom. The best aromatics I've had will instead have a great...

    Irish Blessing

Thanks for your review. C&D's Irish Blessing has been on my want-to-try-it list for quite a while but I haven't pulled the trigger on ordering some - too many other open blends I need to finish first. I'd suggest letting some sit out in the open on a paper towel for a couple hours before...

    Peterson Sweet Killarney

While Peterson's Sweet Killarney is a high quality pipe tobacco, it had too much of a "chemical" taste for me. YMMV! Glen
