    Something Distinctive - Make suggestions

For me, two very distinctive pipe tobaccos are Peretti Cuban Mixture and Uhle's Raider Blend

    4Noggins Evening Cordial

Nice review - thanks! The only 4noggins.com house blends I've tried are Three Blind Mice & Essence of Vermont. Both terrific, high quality pipe tobaccos that are absolutely delicious. And now Evening Cordial gets added to the ever-growing list of must-try blends. Guest that's not a bad thing...

    Would this work for storage.

I would be surprised if the top sealed well enough for long term storage. In the meantime, I have one of those I use to rehydrate pipe tobaccos that have dried a bit too much for my preference, and/or also to add a little flavor to certain tobaccos that could use some. Spread the tobacco out...

    Pipe tobacco in Germany

Don't miss Munich. There's 2 fabulous pipe stores there: Pfeifen Diehl and Pfeifen Huber. Apparently their blends are unique to the stores. I've tried a few - all great.

    McClelland Dark Star prep advice

I like Dark Star but find it too non-user friendly. As for Blackwoods Flake - don't tell everybody!!!!!

    In Search Of Heather Honey

Finally got around to trying some Sutliff Wild Honeysuckle that I'd picked up when P&C introduced it on sale recently. This is as close a blend as my memory serves to the old Stokkebye Heather Honey. Starts out a bit hot, but once it gets going it is a great puffer with a taste & room note...

    In Search Of Heather Honey

I used to be a fan of Stokkebye's Heather Honey, but haven't seen it anywhere for a number of years.

    Tsuge Pipe Tobaccos

I saw these listed on Milan Tobacconist's website - anyone know anything about these?

    Pipe shops in Cincinnati

Can anyone recommend a good pipe shop/tobacconist in downtown Cincinnati? Do they blend their own tobaccos? Thanks!

    Ode to Dark Star

I really like the taste & aroma of McC's Dark Star, but also find it absolutely the most difficult pipe tobacco to spark up & keep lit that I've ever tried. I've tried every sort of prep, drying, packing, tamping etc. to little avail. I found that cutting it up into tiny cubes, using a...

Smokeybears Tobacco Journal Entry and Review: Cornell & Diehl - Briar Fox

Thanks for the nice review. I've tried Briar Fox both in the past & most recently when I received a sample with an order from smoking pipes.com (no affiliation). I'm not very good at reviewing pipe tobaccos. I'm taste-bud challenged and don't pick up various nuances others with a more...

My Oldest Tins - What are yours?

Don't have any pictures, but I have a number of 7 oz. tins of MacBaren Symphony from the late 70's that I picked up some time ago. I checked with the MacBaren people to definitely date the tins & they confirmed the vintage. If anyone wants to try some, I'd be glad to share.

Baby's Bottom Brought Big Buttery Bucks

I had been following that listing. It's obvious there are some serious collectors out there! Hope they do indeed produce it once again - that's one blend I've always wanted to try.

Lane Bulk What is your opinion

I like both Lane 1Q & RLP-6. Both taste good, have great smokability, won't tend to bite, and have a terrific room note. If you like the RLP-6, you shouldn't miss trying LL-7.

    Going Cherry

I haven't been especially keen on cherry blends but recently was given a sample of Uhle's Raider Blend - a cherry blend with just a bit of Latakia. Absolutely delicious!

    Vintage pipe tobacco ads

I'm looking for vintage pipe tobacco ads to print & put up in my little workshop. Any links to good sites that have show vintage ads?

    Brooks Brothers Pipe Tobacco

I don't know anything about Brooks Brothers pipe tobacco. However, since the address listed on the tub shows a zip code, it would have been produced after 1963, when zip codes were first introduced.

Recommendations for very mild Virginia flake

Welcome to the wonderfully relaxing pastime that is the result of smoking a pipe. You can't go wrong with Astley's 109 - just terrific. While it's a ready-rubbed cake and not a true flake, don't miss trying McClelland 5100
