+1 to Orlik Golden Sliced
Also, you might not be a pipe "collector" but buy a couple of MM Cobs to expand your rotation They're inexpensive and great smokers!

My list of mild Virginia Flakes for a first of the day smoke is as follows:
Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia plug

Capstan Blue Flake

Brigham Klondike Gold

Dunhill Flake

Wessex Gold Virginia Flake

Astleys no 109

Rotary Navy Cut

Wessex Gold Brick
I am not a fan of Orlik Golden Sliced because for my tastes it has a real grassy component that I find very off putting. I enjoy it with ten years of age at the least. Hamborger Veermaster is a nice mild flake but that one needs a couple of years at least for it to shine.

Nice list Harris ... I would add Fribourg & Treyer Vintage Flake as well.
It's one of the most plain / straight-forward Virginias I've tried.

Not that it's not good by any means, just very simple and easy ... perfect for a Virginia "Newbie".

Nobody knows their flakes better than "cigrmaster", Andy. Any one of the flakes on his list will be mild, and flavorful. His comments on Orlik Golden Sliced are spot on as well. If I were you, I would substitute the OGS for Rotary Navy Cut or F&T's Cut Virginia Plug. The prices are higher, but they are well worth the few extra dollars. I thought I could get my fix of Virginia sweetness through OGS as well, but found that I was wrong.

Welcome to the wonderfully relaxing pastime that is the result of smoking a pipe.

You can't go wrong with Astley's 109 - just terrific.

While it's a ready-rubbed cake and not a true flake, don't miss trying McClelland 5100
