    VaPers Help

Both baccys you mention are good VaPers. As for other suggestions, also don't miss trying McClelland 2015, Solani 633, and Reiner Long Golden Flake. Since you're already checking out the Hearth & Home tobaccos, I'd also look at Anniversary Kake & Virginia Spice. For a real treat, try...

    Adding cognac/whiskey to tobacco?

I have a rectangular Pyrex glass baking dish with a Tupperware-like cover that I use to rehydrate pipe tobacco that I feel has become too dry for my personal tastes. I spread the tobacco out evenly along the bottom in what turns out to be a fairly thin layer, then use a small spray bottle that...

    An interesting blend...

I had some Gawith, Hoggarth, & Co. Ennerdale Flake that had dried out quite a bit, in spite of rehydration with a spritz of rum. Just out of curiosity, I mixed the Ennerdale Flake with an equal amount of one of the wettest pipe tobaccos I have in my humble cellar, Sutliff's Molto Dolce. Let it...

    HPSC Trout Stream

I also picked up a pound of Trout Stream with the P&C sale - too good of a deal to pass up at $25/lb & I think it's still going. Jarred it up but sampled some fresh without drying & it was terrific. Tastes good, smells good, burns relatively clean, and leaves a wonderful room note. What's not...

Whats a good but cheaper tobaccoa

Here's my advice: go to your local B&M. Ask them what they'd recommend in terms of a pipe and a beginner pipe tobacco. If you don't have a local B&M, get a Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe and either some Lane LL-7, Lane RLP-6, or 1-Q. Have someone show you how to pack the pipe and get started.

Smooth & Mild Aromatic with Touch of Latakia

1st choice: Peretti Cuban Mixture - if you've never tried this blend, you have missed out on one of the most complex pipe tobacco blends I've tried in over 40 years of smoking a pipe. 2nd choice: MacBaren Plumcake - while the Latakia is more of a condiment, it's addition makes this blend...

    Collector Tins

I've always felt that the annual McClelland Christmas Cheer offerings are collector's items, even though the tin design doesn't change. Check out aged tins on eBay. Glad I've always picked up a couple extra tins each year to cellar.

    Molto Dolce, Initial Thoughts

Nice little review - thanks! My initial impressions were similar. While I was mildly put off by the stickiness of the tobacco from the tin and the sizzle when first lit, the room note was outstanding and it was much more flavorful than expected. Definitely a keeper & for me worth buying...

    Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake

Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake = good stuff! While in the past I usually just bought a tin or a couple ounces of a given pipe tobacco, LNF was the very 1st pipe tobacco that I tried, then bought a pound...

    Aromatic Pipe Tobacco... Educate Me?

"What can I look into for an aromatic that is sweet, not chemically tasting, and a room note that will work a bit better for the girlfriend? :) I'm on a somewhat tight budget, too." I'd suggest starting with bulk aromatics, which will be cheaper than the tinned ones. I'd suggest Lane 1-Q, Lane...

    McClelland Virginia Blends Opinions Please

5100 is straight VA cake. Virginia Woods is a blend of VA's with a subtle topping. Both are great. As to which I prefer - too close to call!

Do I have a problem when.....

Ordering more pipe tobacco than you usually smoke is a great way to build up a cellar/stash of pipe tobacco. It's comforting to know that, after a while, you'll always have some well-aged weed to stuff into your pipes.

Has Anyone Tried PS Cube Cut

Good stuff. Like any cube cut, the difficult part for me is not packing it too tight (gravity fill with just the slightest tamp at the top of the bowl) and needing a fair number of lights to get going. Once it finally is fired up, it's good burley

    To Crack...or not to crack?

I"m of the belief that most pipe tobaccos age best in their original tins.
