    Gawith Best Brown Flake

I agree - Best Brown Flake is indeed "great stuff"!

    Trout Stream

    I've only tried the P&C version - it's terrific.

    C&D Autumn Evening

I really like Autumn Evening. A great Virginia-based aromatic. It's different from McClelland Townsman Cavendish Blue (another favorite) based on the underlying tobaccos: a Virginia blend vs. a Cavendish/Burley one

Lane 1Q: Now I Know What Estate Pipes Smell Like

As one who's restored quite a number of estate pipes for my humble collection, I've encountered the ghost of a vanilla aromatic like 1Q (a touchstone aromatic) substantially more often than the ghost of an English blend.

    Flakes to Try

Just working my way through a sampling of Gawith & Hoggarth Bright CR Flake. Initial impression - this stuff's pretty darn good! Don't miss Solani 633 or Reiner Long Golden Flake

Lane 1Q Vs. Sutliff D40 Vanilla

+1 for MacBaren Vanilla Cream/Flake, for Lane LL-7 (yum!), & for any of the Peretti blends - try their 432.

    Bean's Special Pipe Tobacco

The last time I tried Bean's Special Pipe Tobacco was back in the 70's. I don't have a clue if it was Edgeworth or not based on personal experience, but I also remember that I read somewhere that Bean's Special was indeed Edgeworth. Did you by any chance Google Bean's Special to try to find...

    A First Va/Per

An ounce of McClelland 2015 is a good starting place for VaPer blends IMO. I would also recommend an ounce of: Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake, pipesandcigars.com Hearth and Home LJ Heart Virginia Cornell and Diehl Bayou Morning as an intro to VaPers. For about $14 plus shipping, you will...

    pipesandcigars.com

Nothing but the highest recommendations for P&C from me.

    Lane Limited's RLP-6

Lane RLP-6 is IMHO a "touchstone" aromatic that provides a benchmark as to what an aromatic pipe tobacco should be: Tasty, burns/smokes really well, great room note, and (best of all) cheap!

Coffee Flavored Aromatics - Cornell & Diehl Espresso

I'm a big fan of Peretti's Coffee blend. The coffee flavoring is relatively subtle and the base tobaccos are of extremely high quality. Smokes beautifully with a marvelous room note.

    1Q as a Mixer

Recently I picked up some Lane Ltd. 1Q after continuing to read great reviews. My previous impressions of 1Q were that it's a fabulous aromatic - tasty & with a wonderful room note - but that it was a bit mild. The new batch confirmed my old impressions - great in every way but somewhat too...

Wow - those are terrific images. Where do you get 'em all?

Merry Christmas! What Is Your Holiday Tobacco?

Opened a tin of Dunhill Light Flake from 2004 & savored it in a Christmas present I gave myself - a Genod Bent Egg. Both tobacco & pipe were terrific.

Some Long Over Due 4Noggins TAD Tonight.

All great choices. Haven't had The Lord Methley's - what's it like?

    Thoughts On McC Navy Cavendish

Great stuff. Even better if you can set some aside & age it a bit.
