    My Morta Conundrum

I love the grain of Morta personally. But besides the grain, the *history* of the stuff just boggles my mind. What did that tree witness 7,000 years ago ??? I mean, they were building Stonehenge when this tree was green. I have counted the rings on a larger block of Morta with tight growth and...

Mclintock 309 (what is this shape?)

Made by Petersons but Branded for McLintoch. I would call the shape a Bent Billiard for sure. Nice looking pipe.

    Looking for Pipe Making Info

Come to a Pipe Show. Meet pipe makers in person, and start a conversation. It will go a long way towards answering questions and making connections. Second to that is spending time on pipe makers forum. Last, but not least, buy a piece of land and build your own house just down the street from a...

    My Morta Conundrum

Yep, Morta is always going to have the rings prominent. Even rusticated, I imagine you would still see the Oak grain. I don't think I've ever seen one rusticated though.

    My Morta Conundrum

That is a dang good looking Askwith for sure ! I don't think you'll ever get away from the Oak grain though, it is consistent even through the blasting process. The only thing I've seen that was out of the ordinary for a Morta finish is a couple Steve Norse did where he filled the grain with...

Ryan Alden Matched Eight Day Set w/ Custom Stand

The pleasure was all mine Tim ! If it makes you feel better, I also had no idea how much work was involved ! This is the first real pipe rack I have made. I see now, I need a whole second shop just for this kind of work. I had to beg, borrow and engineer a few tools to get the job done. Lucky...

How Do Your Animals React To Your Pipe?

My neighbors donkey will harass you until you give him a puff. Seriously. When he sees a pipe, he wants you to hold it under his nose, his nostrils flare out about 3" wide and he takes a long slow drag straight from the top of the bowl. One long puff and he will usually leave you alone. :D

The Mayflower & The Pilgrim Fathers: An Astonishing Statistic.

My ancestor was the Ships Cooper on the Mayflower, and one of the hired hands who stayed on at the new Colony. John Alden. One of his descendants was the poet Longfellow, who wrote a story about John and made him famous. That makes finding distant relatives fairly easy. I run into lots of random...

    My new Cutty

Todd makes a great pipe ! I am surprised he is out and moving though. I assumed Saskatchewens hibernated straight through to spring ? There is so much I don't understand about Canada..
