Based almost entirely on his web site I commissioned a Cutty from Todd at BST. We were rather loose on the specs. I wanted a smallish pipe with a slightly bent stem. For the money I was spending I was expecting a blast, which is cool with me. He delivered a lovelly smooth flame grained pipe.
He was great to deal with and delivered sweet slick, elegant pipe. the pics he sent me sucked so when I opened the box I was stunned by the grace of this pipe. I filled it with 5100, because I know this tobacco, It was remarkable. This is a small pipe, group 2.5...maybe a 3. The first bowl lasted an hour. This is my preference as I tend to like shorter smokes. The second bowl was Katerini Classic and it lated 1:10. After a vigorous light ...it smoldered. It was so delightful . It almost smoked it self.
The carving is so sweet, the way the cheeks of the bowl run into the stem is just perfect. And it weighs 19 grms. I know this because I have a postage scale. When I told him this pipe tasted bright, like a new Castello he told me the briar was form Mimmo, the same vendor Castello bought form for 50 years. This guy know his pipes.
We all hear about pipes that smoke themselves but this pipe DOES, I am so damn happy with this pipe. He promised me pictures will follow
Thanks Todd.

Todd makes a great pipe ! I am surprised he is out and moving though. I assumed Saskatchewens hibernated straight through to spring ? There is so much I don't understand about Canada..

I can't speak for all Saskatchewanians, but for me it's more of a waking slumber fueled by coffee when the sun is up and whisky when it's down.

Actually..... as a resident Prairie Gopher Choker (someone living in Saskatchewan) the winter here has been quite mild. We even broke a few records for high temps recently...... course right now it's blowing snow, icy roads, and dropping to -20 tonight. lol

Is this a magic pipe? Are we expected to believe that a pipe in your house is not only a smooth flame grained pipe, but that it smokes itself? Do the laws of physics cease to exist in your pipe chair?

Glad you are so happy with it Jeff, even if the blast isn't real deep.

19.. i have no idea why we have the scale...but we do.
Also... it looks WAY better in person. Which as the carver pointed out, makes for a nice surprise when you open the box.

I wholeheartedly approve this pipe commission.
Many bowls have passed since I have seen such a subtle, elegant burner.
