How Many Smoke Out of the C&D Tins?

Dictionaries are descriptive, not prescriptive. A society, culture, or group of language users collectively decide how a word is to be used or defined, and then a dictionary reflects that usage. It's in the dictionary because it's how we use it, we don't use it a particular way because it's in...

What Tobacco Did Orson Welles Smoke?

All interesting responses, thanks! I’m a big enough fan to read a biography or two - I’ll be sure to update if any brands are mentioned.

What Tobacco Did Orson Welles Smoke?

I did find that thread, but I only saw where it mentioned his preferred brands of pipes. I didn’t catch any reference to the tobacco he smoked. Maybe I missed it?

What Tobacco Did Orson Welles Smoke?

I know Jiminks is the one to ask, but I thought I’d throw this out there... Doing a search there are all kinds of mentions of Welles on the forum, but I cannot find any hint as to what tobacco(s) he smoked. Does anyone have any info?

    Morgan Bones Pipes

I have three and the stems are a miss for me, even the best of those three is too big and I don't really smoke any of them. They really are quite large bits when I compare them to any of my other pipes. I have one straight apple, a bent brandy type, and a saddle stem billiard - that is to say...

    Another Weird Peterson Drilling

No worries! I just hate that feeling of stepping into a townie bar and getting looked at like I wasn't invited. But now I know to to bug with all my Peterson queries!

    Another Weird Peterson Drilling

Thanks to everyone for all of the helpful and positive comments and feedback! I have a few Peterson's and I really want to love them. I'm eager to find out how this one smokes - I simply wanted to verify that I didn't have anything to be concerned about rather than looking for something to be...

    Another Weird Peterson Drilling

I have 3 Savinelli 673's which are essentially bent to the same angle that the 999 is yet the hole is drilled in the center of the mortise. Some pipes are different than other pipes I'm wagering. But again, the hostility is super helpful and much appreciated.

    Another Weird Peterson Drilling

Aran smooth nickel pipes are currently $104 at smokingpipes.com - I suppose what I love is a fair exchange of goods. Thanks for the hostility though, it's super helpful.

    Another Weird Peterson Drilling

I suppose I'm only truly reaching out to Peterson fans because I know many don't like Petersons for this and maybe other reasons. I just received a brand new Peterson Aran 999 and the drilling seems even more off. I haven't smoked it as I don't know if it needs to be returned. My question is...

    Epiphany/Match Revelation

Thanks for the replies and great info. But you know what? I'm finding that I don't notice toppings as much when I smoke indoors. This occurred to me just yesterday, lol. I tried the Peretti Thanksgiving earlier in the week smoking it indoors and it tasted like a nice burley blend, but I...

    Epiphany/Match Revelation

It’s my understanding that both of these blends are supposed to recreate the original Epiphany blend. I never had the original, but I’ve tried both of these. The C&D Epiphany does not seem to have an additional “topping” that adds a sweet flavor whereas the Sutliff Match Revelation does. 1)...

    Dunhill/Peterson My Mixture 965

Do you find the black cav sweeter? If so, I wonder if I like the Black Mallory for that reason. "Sweet Englishes" are something I have a soft spot for.

    Looking For Nostalgic Room Note

Last night on the deck I loaded up a bowl of 1-Q knowing my neighbors were outside nearby. When my S.O. came outside to join me I asked her if it smelled like the pipes she remembers her relatives, etc. smoking when she grew up. She said, "no, it smells too sweet, like vanilla or cherry or...

    Meriwether From Country Squire

Haha, ok, I guess I'm the only one out there enjoying this one. That's too bad, but more for me!

    Mac Baren Scottish Blend

I like this blend as well but have always wondered about it being categorized as an "aromatic." There is additional sweetness, but no discernible added flavoring (at least to me, or by the descriptions I've seen). There are plenty of other blends with a MUCH more pronounced non-tobacco flavor...

    Meriwether From Country Squire

Just curious if anyone has tried, knows about, or enjoys this one. There are only 2 reviews on the tobaccoreviews site and they are diametrically opposed. I quite enjoy it, but it seems to have a light topping to me (that I like). But in the description there is no additional flavoring...

    Dunhill/Peterson My Mixture 965

I think H & H Sunjammer is closer/better than the Match 20. It's not as cheap as the Match 20, but is still cheaper than tins of MM965. I also think Rattray's Black Mallory is close to MM965 and can be found in bulk from time to time.

    How to Pack "Kibble" Blends?

Sounds great, thanks for all of the input. I tried rubbing them out but they're pretty impenetrable so I figured that was wrong. I'll just be sure not to over pack them. Thanks again!

    How to Pack "Kibble" Blends?

Hmm...well the "kibble" I'm thinking of looks like this... Not like this ...
