    Looking for Lane RR

I've never had the original Edgeworth, but between the current Lane Ready Rubbed and the Sutliff Match, I prefer the Sutliff, hands down. It really has that "wooden malt cup stick-spoon" flavor that Matches860 mentions.

    Jarring 2 oz Of Flake

I've got some Capstan tins in my cellar but they're still just in the tins. Are you telling me I need to open all of those tins and jar those flakes?

Stand Back, I Think She's Gonna Blow !!!

Far and away the hardest I've ever laughed reading this forum! Thank you for that!

    St. Bruno Question

One other poster on this thread agreed and I believe (but correct me if I'm mistaken) Jiminks said something similar in his reviews. Is this the consensus then? And if so, do most prefer the flake or the ready rubbed? In which form did the original St. Bruno come, flake or ready rubbed/pouch...

    My Mixture 965- a Review

I wonder which matches you like best. When MM965 wasn't available for a year or two I found Sunjammer from Hearth and Home to be a really nice match blend.

    Cornell & Diehl Pirate Kake

Haha, this is from review #12 in the thread and for the first 11 I absolutely was thinking about Black Frigate and kept thinking to myself, "hmm...I didn't remember it being that latakia heavy or having that lack of complexity." Thank you for admitting I'm not the only one who has trouble...

    Bamboo

I love bamboo's aesthetic and renewability, but I cannot get used to the look of it on pipes...it always looks like a bony finger to me and consequently appears a bit...disturbing. Weird, I know.

    Peterson Barlings?

Found under the "About Us" page on Kopp-Pipes.com: "In 2020, Oliver Kopp succeeded in acquiring the worldwide naming rights for the Barling company, founded in 1812"

    Peterson Barlings?

Ok, found was I was thinking of...back in December 2020 Kopp Pipes started teasing the lion head inlay on their Instagram page. Is Kohlhase & Kopp the "K&K" that Sablebrush is referring to? Kopp sells pipes, but doesn't make them? Plus they're German and as noted above by someone more...

    Peterson Barlings?

Sorry for the confusion, this is the last line written in the "history" of Barling pipes on the Pipedia page: Most recently inexpensive pipes bearing the Barling name, but made by Peterson have been available for sale in the US. But it sounds like "most recently" is now out of date and there...

    Peterson Barlings?

Welp, if I'm incorrect I apologize profusely, but that's why I came to ask - to get to get the lowdown on these pipes. I thought I'd read that Peterson was making them, if that's not the case, who is and are they any good? Does anyone own one?

    Peterson Barlings?

I know from reading his posts that he's among the most knowledgeable folks on here, but also among the more curmudgeonly so I won't go poking that hornet's nest. Although it'd be fascinating to hear his perspective on the resurgence of the brand name.

    Peterson Barlings?

I should have said, "I'm guessing Barling fans are not happy." And oops, yes, bad timing on my part posting this the day after the Barley pipes when up for sale.
  14. JohnMosesBrowning

    Peterson Barlings?

I don't know much about Barlings but I understand Peterson is now making pipes with that branding. I'm guessing that Barling fans are happy? Anyway, my question really is, does anyone have any experience with these new Barling pipes? I understand that they may not be "true" Barlings, but...

    New Blends from John Bull

I'm going to pick up Distinguished Gentleman. Thanks for the recommendations!

    John Bull Fragrant English

Have you had them back-to-back yet to compare? It'd be interesting to know if having them back to back would bring out more of the sweetness of this blend? maybe not.

    Sutliff Creme Brulee

This is another good, sweet, aro. I had already tried Old Toby from Country Squire before I had this, so I stuck with Old Toby. Big difference in price though of course.

    Lane Dark Red

This was the first aromatic that I could taste the flavor of when I started pipe smoking and loved it. I bought a pound and moved on. Recently I pulled it out and couldn't believe how strong the flavor is on it! I still think it's a great cherry aro if that's what you're looking for, but I...

    Royal Yacht, A Short-Short Review

TobaccoReviews.com categorizes it as an aromatic...Is the plum flavoring that pronounced or is it more of a virginia-based blend with a light topping that has a hint of plum to it?

Having a drink with your smoke?

I enjoy a nightly dram of a good bourbon, rye, or malt, but never with my pipe. The combination of spirits and pipe completely clash for me and I not only end up tasting neither, I find the whole experience unpleasant - the complete opposite of the intended purpose of both pastimes. I love...
