My First Altinay / Coloring progression

Nice! I’m a bowl a day (if lucky) guy, so, it’ll take a bit longer for me. It’s interesting how the rustication on the shank (not really rustication, but whatever it is) effects the coloring here! Excited to see 100 and beyond!

    Pipe Bits Necessary?

I gave em a shot, and hated them.

    Jim's GLP géométrie (Zeitgeist) Review.

I haven’t heard a review yet that makes me want to pull the trigger.

    Dunhill Canadian Patent

Haha, I owe it to my wife: I never would have stopped in. Now, I’m like you, always checking em out!

    Dunhill Canadian Patent

Putting it in the ol’ mental checklist: pipemasters clean and cure is a no no!

    Dunhill Canadian Patent

Haha, yes. That’s why I need yalls wisdom and experience! It didn’t really seem to do anything.

    Dunhill Canadian Patent

Than Thanks! I used pipemasters clean & cure.

    Dunhill Canadian Patent

Thanks! Your absolutely right… my initial inclination was 6 but it looks like it was double stamped almost to give an 8 look. There’s no “No.” so it wouldn’t be from 28-34. Seems like it would be 35-37 It’s hard to make out, but my wife and I think it says “10” I was a little confused too...

    Dunhill Canadian Patent

I don’t know why, but I’m a little skeptical of this pipe. I picked it up at an antique store for I think, $10.00. I’ll post pictures but it says, on the right: MADE IN ENGLAND “INNER TUBE” CANADIAN PATENT 197385/20 And then closer to the bowl on the right hand side: 347 On the left...

    My humble collection

I want to say the first tobacco that clicked for me was Gaslight or Quiet Nights. Just like Scotch, I wanted the kick your face in experience so I started with Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Lagavulin. A lot of people say that we should “ease” our way into these things, but, I don’t think I would have...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2023?***

A cup of dark roast coffee and briar fox in the meer. Everyone tells me my dog is fat, and it wasn’t until this picture I realized it might be true. Also, I am often told this dog is so ugly it’s cute. I can see that too. Off to mass in a bit, wishing everyone blessed Holy Saturday.

    Jim's C&D Carolina Red Flake 2022 Review.

Haven’t tried the w/perique yet. I’m sure it’s solid, but I was hoping to stock up on straight.

***What Are You Smoking, April 2023?***

A couple year old tin of Sixpence, and a Belgian ale. Opened this tin a month back and can’t believe how little I’ve gone back: it’s one of my favorites. tangy!

    Crack in Meerschuam pipe

We’ll, I took a… less drastic approach: sanded it down a bit. In the right light, I can see a small almost translucent line. It’s not a crack anymore, but, seems like there is probably something there which lent itself to the crack. Not too worried. If another crack forms, I’ll have more...

    Crack in Meerschuam pipe

You got a recipe? Lol… Seriously, just combine them in a mortar and add a bit of water before muddling?

    Crack in Meerschuam pipe

Thanks for “chipping” in. (Eh? Eh?) This was kind of what I was thinking. Considering this pipe has maybe 10 or so bowls through it, I’m hoping it’s the case that if no cracks have appeared relatively soon with a new meer, then they probably wont—not sure if that rule holds true or not.
