I must say that I am incredibly surprised at the number of folks who’ve mentioned throwing tobacco away. I would never do that. Just give it to someone else whose taste buds may appreciate it.

I guess it’s another sign that we’re living in a “throwaway culture,” as the former Argentinian Jorge Bergoglio speaks about regularly.

I would generally agree, but if one doesn't personally know any other pipe smokers, it may not make sense to try to give away the remainder of a bulk oz sample or tin and have to deal with mailing it, especially when the shipping cost will likely exceed the value of the tobacco. If it were something rare and sought after, then I might make the effort to give it to someone who will appreciate it.

Briarworks Bacon old fashioned!
I never thought 💭 I would utter anything negative with bacon in it but here we are. No bacon flavor to speak of and only a slight hint that ebbs/flows of the cocktail casing. The blend has a odd tin note and harsh characteristics on the retrohale

C&D Visions of Celephaïs. While there are plenty of blends I won’t buy again, this is the one that left me feeling like I needed to notify the authorities. War crimes tribunals would only nominally be an overreaction.

I had two bowls of Old Gowrie yesterday in two different pipes, and was surprised at how much I did not enjoy it. The tin note was interesting and inviting, smelled a bit like prune juice, so I was primed for a sweet and lovely smoke. I dried out a healthy pinch or two (the tin was quite moist), and loaded it in my MM Country Gentleman. I got a smoke that was acrid and cigarette-ish, bitey and not awesome. Later in the day, I packed a clay with the balance of what I had dried (which was now bordering on very dry). Same thing, full of bite and harsh smoke. Very disappointing.
Likely smoked it too fast. If you're producing clouds, you're burning off flavor.

Well I must confess being an unrepentant burley lover; so for all those who detest the OJK or Haunted Bookshop they have still have taking up space, I will offer to pay to ship that horrible tobacco to me!

For me the only tobacco I can’t stand are the Lakelands. I am not a massive fan of aromatic or english blends either but i do on occasion enjoy a bowl just for a change up. But I have long ago given up trying the Lakeland essence…

It’s funny you mention MacBaren Navy Flake. I opened a tin of it last month because I liked it the first few timed I smoked it a couple years ago. The latest one was horrible and I tossed it.
I even tried a couple more times over the wknd. The leaf quality is good but my palate keeps searching for something that never arrives so there's not gratification to it...
