Good morning Pipers. In my pipe smoking history I have tried many tobacco. I don't much care for a few of these tobaccos but I find some pleasure in most blends that I try.
I am always fascinated by the degree in which taste differ so here is the question.
Is there one tobacco that you have tried and absolutely detested?
Now I realize that everyone will have different answers and of course, there is no judgment in this question, just curiosity.
I will start… For me it was Five Brothers. When I smoked it by itself, I got a little sick from the nicotine hit and felt like I was smoking dry grass. I vowed to never smoke it again. With that being said, I do like to mix it with weaker mixtures to give it a little punch.
What is your "never again" tobacco?

I have a shelf full of worst tobaccos in various genres. I keep them, in small mason jars, because I have been told here that my tastes will probably change in the future. Every now and then I will try one to see if this change has occurred yet. So far they serve as valuable negative points of comparison. The handful of tobaccos I do like (Five Brothers is one of them) seem so much better afterwards.

Sutliff Eastfarthing, I got a tin at the Richmond show for free. While at the show I kept catching a sickly sweet Latakia side stream from an older gentleman… soon after and to my surprise, I replicated that exact scent while trying my first bowl of Eastfarthing… Never again! 😂 Lane Very Cherry cut deep to.
I got a tin of that a number of years ago when Sutliff was doing that deal with tobaccopipes where you’d get a specific blend for like the cost of shipping. Was it 2019? This was one of the blends and It reminded me almost like Boswell Northwoods, but with more topping. I believe after a few bowls it made its way into a donate box.

Yep! 2019 they had it in the grab bag from the show. I thought it might be similar to Northwoods. Perhaps I’ll give sweet Latakia another try one day. I still remember opening my first tin of Dunhill Standard Mixture… man I thought it had gone bad! I love smoked things, especially dark fired but sometimes Latakia has a medicinal/bandaid taste and that mixed with too much sweetness can be too much. If I do go for Latakia it’s probably going to be Peretti Tashkent or Watch City Blueridge Special.

I got one ounce of Sutliff Frosty Mint. It feels like smoking a Vick's VapoCool Severe Maximum Strength Menthol cough drop.

@telescopes has great recipe that uses that stuff.
I do. Frosty Mint should be cut to a 1:7 ratio using BCA or 1Q as the main base blend. Better yet is the recipe for EZ1: 5 parts CD Mocha, 2 parts Sutliff Chocolate Supreme, and 1 part Frosty Mint. This blend is a home run
