Alien Code (2018) on Amazon Prime

A man is recruited by the government to decipher an "alien code" embedded in a recovered satellite. Is it aliens? Is it time travel? Is it a hallucination? Is it a government conspiracy? You'll have to watch to find out. Personally, I thought it was brilliant. Great acting too. If you're into SciFi, it's definitely worth a watch. (5/5*)

Ep 5 of Night Country, current season of True Detective. This is turning out to be their worst season, despite Jodie Foster and the opening episode. Season finale is next Sunday, so far 3/5 stars.

Little House on the Prairie on prime. I never watched it as a kid and I'm up to season 8. Lots of history and lessons for life in the series. Not that it makes a difference but there's some pipe smoking thrown in throughout the series as well. 5/5

What happens when you combine American storytelling sensibilities with a British police procedural and a dash of broad humor? You get a show like No Offense on Britbox. Great fun and I enjoyed every minute of it.
4.5 out of 5.

Babylon Berlin, 3 seasons GREAT!
Great series. The only flaw was modern sensibility making Bolshevics into martyrs instead of monsters in the series.
If you haven't seen it, check out The Defeated on Netflix, same quality of period drama in Berlin, on the other side of WWII. And, if you want a great post cold war Berlin drama, Dogs of Berlin is tops.

Just finished Boy Swallows Universe. It gets dark, but it's not a wallow in human misery type of show (a genre I despise, i.e., type of dreck Von Trier, Inarritu, Mendes, etc. turn out). The show is worth sticking it out, even if the end is a bit far fetched. Great Aussie period piece too.

OMG! There's so much available on TV about SEX! I'm not talking porn, but shows about porn, about sex in general, diversity in sex, how to on sex, and sex comedies. How to Build a Sex Room is hilarious, but is still serious for those wanting one. Even Gwyneth Paltrow had a show on women's sexuality that was quite explicit, and a Korean show on sex workers and sexuality in the Netherlands and Germany. I mean it's endless, and I find most of them fascinating and even educational. But then that's just me, I'm rather open minded to things like this. Some might find these make them rather uncomfortable, and embarrassing. It's all ok, everyone is different. 5/5 for most of them.

I don't know why I resisted watching this series for so long, but Death In Paradise on Britbox is a charming light romp set on a Caribbean island. Events, with the exception of the murders, are pretty gentle and light hearted, the settings are gorgeous, and the detective's solutions and summations are of a type to really piss off dedicated detective fiction buffs. I don't care. Strictly for fun. 4.25 out of 5.

So far this year I watched True Detective Night Country. I don't consider it to be at the level of season one (the best that has been done on television in many years) but it does surpass the other two seasons and in my humble opinion Jodie Foster raises the quality of anything in which she acts and She has been doing it since she was 12 years old. 4/5.
Another thing I watched was the second season of Reacher. More or less, it seemed like a kind of Mission Impossible to me, I didn't like that they surrounded him with a group. I haven't read all 800 books about Reacher, but I always considered him to be a lone hero. 2,5/5

I watched "Monsieur Spade" on AMC. I was six-part serial of what happened to Sam Spade in later live, Set in France during Algerian Revolt. It was rather dark and kind of grisly, though Spade took very little part in those activities. It was kind of a murky story and rather dark. I was nice to see Spade in action again. It is not a continuation of "The Maltese Falcon".

The Abyss- Netflix. Swedish disaster movie, not the James Cameron piece. About as dreadful as I've seen in a while. 1/5.

Those Who Wish Me Dead. Netflix. Big forest fire scene, best part of the drama which starts as a mystery about an accountant who found info - that others would kill him to prevent its getting out there. Degrades into a chase-'em. 3/5
