Finished Planet Earth (2006), and moving on to Blue Planet: Seas of Life (2001). They're a little dated, but I do love revisiting these wildlife documentaries from my youth from time to time. I can really do without the global warming propaganda that inexplicably seeps into these kinds of presentations (more of a product of the time period than anything else), but the David Attenborough narration is the epitome of soothing, and certainly takes the whole production to the next level. 4/5

Star Trek Picard Season 3

If you've seen season 1 & 2 (what disasters) I'm not sure why they didn't start with the season 3 story line I feel like this is all the people wanted. 5/5 so far.

Succession. I just started watching this drama series on HBO. It’s about a global media and entertainment conglomerate, and family turmoil fighting for its control. Yeah, it didn’t sound that interesting to me either… but It’s very good, and has a humorous element to it as well. 4/5

I watched a bit of Season 1 when I came out, found it a bit arch and tedious and moved onto other things. Just "because" I took another look and and have been enjoying it quite a lot. All of the various machinations the main characters put themselves through in service to their often appalling senses of judgement make for a pretty good entertainment.

HBO Max - 4 out of 5

I'm watching The Boys, now in its second season. The series is a masterpiece, I recommend it to everyone.

The Magpie Murders.
Latest show from Anthony Horowitz, the same author & screenwriter who created Midsomer Murders, Foyles War etc. 5/5 & a must see!

On Prime- The Wrecking Crew - Documentary
We all listen to music thinking that the band on the label is what we are hearing. I mean, the band we see on TV with the groups that make the music we like. But, what if you found out that the same highly skilled musicians were all recording the very different sounding music? The "hits".
We only have heard of few of their names, like Herb Albert (because he did record just under his name sometimes), Tommy Tedesco, and Leon Russel, Glenn Campbell.... but most will go unknown into obscurity. But, when we listen to the Beach Boys, even Elvis, Mamas and Papas, Neil Young, and almost all of the hitmakers of the 60's and 70's... game show tunes, commercial jingles, and so much more.... they were all the same group of 12 to 20 musicians highly skilled, creative, and very professional. Sometimes, even the bands didn't know that they were overdubbed by these musicians. And, a lot of times, these guys would rewrite the artists tunes to make them better. This is the "Wrecking Crew." 5/5, if you liked to learn something about the music we love.

Another hillbilly deer camp tip is that DVD players have almost died, which means you can buy a top end DVD player at any pawn shop for ten dollars.

Then on eBay, every classic movie known is about 5 dollars, from Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane to last year’s Oscar winner.

Every little hillbilly town has a Dollar General and all those have a Redbox machine outside where you can rent DVD s for a dollar or two, or buy them for about five bucks.

This raises the level of culture at deer camp, I think.

My son had never seen Casablanca.

Now moving on to Life (2009). Same kind of content, but with improved camera work. 4/5

Yes, if you can't get reliable 4K (UHD) - or at least 1080 (HD) via cable, resorting to physical media for cheap is a good plan.

I am lucky to have reliable internet at close to 400 mbps, and an LG 4k TV. At this point in my life I do not want to own any physical media, except the bits and bytes on a solid state drive.
