My wife and I are addicted to true crime shows. The more actual footage and the fewer actors the better. They are more disturbing when you realize how incredibly stupid most criminals are. Fictional criminals are smarter and not as likely to visit mayhem randomly on the innocent.
The First 48, etal, are our favorites.

Best Netflix we watched recently was French series Lupin - A retelling of the classic French story about Arsène Lupin, the world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise. The actors were tremendous. The scenery and police chases throughout Paris were great.
Thanks for recommending Lupin. Finished it last night. I read that there will be a third part/season. I rate it 4/5.

We've been watching the Gemstones. I usually would avoid anything that I thought was being sacrilegious, but the humor makes fun of TV Evangelists more than religion itself. It's funny, but this season is getting even weirder. The comedy is really mixed. I can tell that they have at least four good writers (or they're letting the comedian actors participate in the writing) with different styles of humor. Very funny, but it might touch some nerves for the true believers not yet disillusioned by the fake TV evangelists. 4/5 -with a warning for fanatics.

About finished with this one also, and I feel like it was a huge waste of time. The acting is horrible. The plot seem random, as if they just made it up as they went along. There are a few redeeming jokes that hit hard, but that is not enough to make up for the huge waste of time this show is.
And, I just read that there will not be a second season of this... thank God. 1/5

We're watching the new season of "All Creatures Great and Small," on Masterpiece Theater/PBS. It's a veterinarian drama, and gets sentimental and melodramatic, but is well acted, superbly scripted and edited, and far better than I expected. I'd been passing it up for years, but they have me now. Other PBS offerings, not so much. Don't like the new "Around the World in Eighty Days," compared to the old classic film with David Niven, or the Vienna crime series featuring a psychiatrist protagonist, or the Australian flying doctors, all heavy handed and two dimensional, to my taste. We're fans of the British comedy "As Time Goes By," about a couple who caught up with each other in maturity, since that's our situation. On the veterinarian drama, my wife, who grew up on a cattle farm, noted that they are always treating recumbent cows giving birth in a barn, whereas, on her farm, mostly the cattle gave birth in pasture, on their own, only to be tracked down and discovered when the calves were on hoof just behind mama. Which is why her cousin has a stuffed bobcat in his living room -- picked off to protect the calves.

Peaky Blinders…wife and I are making our way through the series…pretty good so far. In a lot of ways it was a better time.View attachment 126282
We loved that series, and they are still planning to do one more season I believe. It took us a while to warm up to it, because of whatever language it is that they are speaking, but subtitles helped us a LOT. Damn Englishmen, need to learn how to speak English. H aha.

I wouldn't want to live back then though. Life expectancy is like 40, 50 for the very lucky.

Amen to that! The accents which I usually enjoy were tough to follow. The subtitles helped a lot

I read those books! Excellent stories full of humor, and intrigue.

We just started the new season of Ozarks, on…. we have Roku now, so…. Maybe it’s Amazon Prime?

We really should have rewatched the past seasons again, because after sooooo long it was confusing. Why did the blonde chick get fired again? Why did they blow off the other blonde’s head? Oh yeh, they own a casino now. Why are the kids so old now, wait, are those the same actors? You will want to at least catch up a little before watching. They delayed this one by two years, so…

Bateman is a very good actor. I found myself totally agreeing with his character’s reactions. very subtle, but good stuff.

Anyways, so far a 5/5, good stuff. Violence is good, but there’s a serious lack of nudity and sex scenes.

Hey, no spoilers! (I already watched it, 5/5 this season)
Also, this is just Part 1 of the final season, Part 2 on deck, if you get confused by the last episode.

I have to go back and watch the last episode of the last season before I start a new season. I never can remember how the last season ended. That's one reason I like to wait until the entire program is over.

Ozark is a fantastic show.

At my daughter's behest, we watched Red Notice together.

Ryan Reynolds and the Rock played the same characters they do in every other film they're in. Gal Gadot was overhyped and underutilized. I think there was a storyline in there somewhere.

My wife called it one of the worst movies she's ever seen. (1/5*)
