The UFC prelims are winding down—I’m getting ready for the main card with G.L. Pease Spark Plug in one of my earliest Eugène-Léon Ropp pipes, a Cherrywood with a Natural Horn Stem. It’s stamped “Bussang,” so, it’s very likely it was made at Ropp’s original workshop there between 1870–1893. I usually have cherry or berry aromatics in my pipes made of cherry, but I have at least two cherry Ropps and a briar Oguz Simsek dedicated to those kinds of blends—this one is earmarked for English blends (there are only so many pipes one can dedicate to cherry/berry aromatics). This table sitter pipe is truly gargantuan, and easily the biggest pipe in my collection at 26" in length (see a smaller Ropp that’s pretty large by most standards, a 12 oz Coca-Cola can, and a Savinelli 320 KS to get an idea of the relative scale). This will likely get me through the three plus hours of the UFC main card.

Smoking some JOHN COTTON DOUBLE PRESSED KENTUCKY! 😂 in an S Bang. Generally in a grumpy AF mood. Sometimes the fact that I have a lot to be grateful for and savor in life doesn’t break through the black cloud.

When I feel that dark cloud descending I remember what my elders taught me ; every day above ground is a good day.

That is true. My wife spent the last 5 years beating terminal cancer and won. I just recovered from a stroke and had to learn how to walk again.
Both of us 50 yrs old and just retired. Both of us were marathon runners so we were living right but never saw it coming. It put me right with God and made me realize how fast things can change. Trust me man it can get real bad real quick
Everything else is always smaller than it seems when your perspective changes.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking KBV B. Frog’s Peaty Hunt in a 1986 three quarter bend Bacchus face CAO meer with a tapered dark tortoise shell colored acrylic stem. Working on a review of this punchy, filling blend.

Wish i still did. It turned nicely.
