Rattray's Red Rapparee from today. Just received and opened the tin. At first a very strong smell that made me think of black olives. Jarred it rightaway and filled this nice old Dunhill 35 F/T Bruyere bowl with it.

Will smoke that later this evening. For now it is H&H White Knight again in my Altinay billiard pipe.

Now smoking some Lane's Black Raspberry in a small calabash. I can actually taste the berries! This is the first time I can really taste something specific in a tobacco. All this time I was thinking @Jimlnks was making up all those flavors. LOL Another few years and I might start to taste the wood, the citrus, the earth, the nuttiness, the grass, etc., etc., etc.

I'm glad you are enjoying your aromatic journey. The get frowned upon at times, but "float" the pipe tobacco "ship". I enjoy aromatics on occasion (usually as the first smoke of the day).

My favorite aromatic is Arrowhead from Paul's Pipe Shop in Flint, which is a kitchen sink aromatic (with vanilla, carmel, and a whole mix of tobacco leaves). You can order by phone. I highly recommend it (along with adding a bit of a stouter blend to aromatics for more of a kick).

Not far from finishing this bowl of early 2000s Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. We finally have a day with no rain, but a stiff back precludes walking. Watching the Cubs-Cardinals game which is played in London. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Smoking some JOHN COTTON DOUBLE PRESSED KENTUCKY! 😂 in an S Bang. Generally in a grumpy AF mood. Sometimes the fact that I have a lot to be grateful for and savor in life doesn’t break through the black cloud.

I think were all probably guilty of that. Reminds me of an old AC/DC tune “Drive On” that JC outta stagger you out of it.

It took me years to really get a handle on flavors. Keep at it.

About to smoke my first bowl of the new fangled 3 Nuns to see if I’m going to partake in the current sale going on. I bought this one tin to sample about 6 months ago and now seems like the right time to try it. (In a Scovgaard)

I ordered 6 tins, if you haven’t tried it and like Kentucky blends, it’s a good one! I still don’t think they should ever have called this 3 Nuns, 3 Nuns was a VaPer.
