Two nice and very different single malts which were finished last night. One was an 8yo GlenAllachie finished in a Koval Rye cask. The second was a lightly smoky Bunnahabhain by indy bottlers Signatory.
This evening having a Rebel Kentucky Straight Whiskey finished in Tawny Port casks. Its easy drinking and perfectly pleasant. I think a bit too sweet though. I didn't realise it was to a 'wheated' recipe. I prefer my bourbons less wheaty with more rye on the mash bill, or better still just drinking rye.
I had a rummage in one of my bottle cupboards yesterday and was delighted to find a forgotten bottle of Jack Daniel's Rye Whiskey 
This is probably my last of the 43% JD rye but I do have at least one bottle of JD Single Barrel Rye left in there which I'm saving for a special occasion whenever that happens to be
With just a dash of chilled water, it's a great way to watch the late news before hitting the sack.

I found this in a void in the kitchen cabinetry. I don’t believe I’ve had Brazilian wine before. Gonna open her soon
A run of the mill Argentine vino tinto....love it!! 
Post work Woodford with a dash of clove bitters and simple syrup. An orange peel would’ve made it a bit better but I can’t complain.
I finished a bottle of Lagavulin 8, I like it better than the 16. Lately testing Deanston 12, and Virgin Oak. I guess depending on how the palate is in the middle of the day, or at night, I do not know, but I find the 12 years with an aftertaste of burnt plastic, or that characteristic smell of cloves. And the virgin oak is a bit sweeter, fresher and younger, the flavor is intense and long. But I really like them both. Both have a very tasty taste, intense and long, with that aftertaste of green apples. And on top, they do not put coloring, so the color is the original whisky.
Our friend, John, is visiting to watch the big PPV UFC tomorrow. We’re starting off with Barrell Dovetail Whiskey finished in Rum, Port, and Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Barrels, Cask Strength, 122.54 Proof.
We're following up with Arrrrrrrdbeg! Islay Single Malt, 51.8%.
Next up, Ardbeg Blaaack, Islay Scotch, 46%.
Still posting at 4:41AM...must have been one hell of a night. Those are some stellar bottles of scotch.
Having Pabst Hard Cold Brew, 4.2%, for a little caffeine burst while watching UFC.
This was incredible, very rich lingering after taste.
