Because the thing is this, you can tell by look, smell, touch the difference between a GH and SG blend. In fact I have almost every blend on hand jarred with no labels and I can always tell what blend and always whether its SG or GH is instantly recognizable.
....because GH blends typically have a certain scent/flavor that is commonly referred to as "Lakeland" and SG blends do not. No?

By the way, pipeman7 are you the guy who posted not long ago that GH and SG were the only makers of quality tobaccos? Just want to get some context here.

Absolutely. right now i'm smoking a blend of Rum Twist and Balkan Flake equal parts rubbed out fresh out of the jar no drying time. Smokes like a dream smells delicious
I'm tryin to clarify that Lakeland isn't a flavor description. But it's most often incc0rectly used to describe the flavors on Grousemoor, Canon Plug, Kendal Cream Flake, 1792 Flake among other SG blends so no I don't think your assessment that Lakeland is only used to describe the flavor of GH scenting.

Hey I'm just sticking up for Sam Gawith here. I don't even think the SG blends are made on the same machines that GH uses

Then forgive me for implying that, God forbid, the GH scent got into the SG tobaccos because of bad quality control, no sir that can never happen especially since the merger.

virginalover, but how would that be possible if infact they aren't even made on the same machines? Can you elaborate on the scenting you found in Cabbie's? It was the flavor you associated with what GH blends

Soapy to very soapy, I wanted to like Cabbie's Mixture but that was plain nasty. As I said, I would prefer that the SG tobaccos remain without any GH scent contamination, I like their tobaccos but not unconditionally.

I have yet to try any of the SG varietals. Which would you say are worth picking up, provided I can find them here in the US? I tend to lean towards VA and Mild English varieties.

Full Virginia Flake, Best Brown Flake and Golden Glow for Va.

For a mild English, as with little Latakia, Squadron Leader is a classic.

However, it's best to not buy any SG products until we know for sure there is no Lakeland contamination

That would destroy his purpose to acquire SG tobaccos wouldn't it? On which side are you? SG will be very unhappy with you.

I see! Carry on then, you won't get any obstruction from me. I advise you to buy 50 to 100 tins of Cabbie's Mixture, at least one out of five carries that GH scent that everybody talks about.

Someone should send pipeman7 a sample of the contaminated blend, especially someone who doesn't like it. Then he can either confirm or gloat.
