Pipeman, you need to read more carefully.
I will add emphasis:
"I couldn't care less about the definintion of Lakeland flavors, soapiness or perfume, if I find those in SG tobaccos like BBF, FVF, Golden Glow, Commonwealth Mixture, Balakan Flake, Squadron Leader, FV Plug, St.James Plug, Kendal Plug and ESPECIALLY Cabbie's Mixture, then it means that quality control is an issue."
He is not stating that he DID find Lakeland in those blends. He is making an "if-then" statement. If he finds it...then it's a quality control issue.

Well the point is he didn't and yet you guys still all constantly make a fuss about this. It sounds like the only real reports of smokers claiming a flavoring where it shouldn't come from cabbies. How many batches of Cabbie's did you all smoke before you found this "flavoring" and how do you know it's not supposed to be there

pipeman7: "No it's not that. virginialover mind if I ask how lonog you've been smoking a pipe?"
I've been smoking a pipe for 30 years also I found the soapiness in Cabbie's Mixture, a damn shame. The fact that other smokers found the soapiness/perfume or Lakeland flovors, call it what you will, in other SG tobaccos while they're not supposed to be there, allows me to deduce that there could be a problem with quality control at GH/SG.
woodsroad thank you for the emphasis.

JimInks review in Tobacco Reviews is very good and you have other reviewers as well stating that the "Lakeland essence, soapiness and perfume" can be tasted. No it's not supposed to be there, it's advertised with no flavorings.
I'm also referring you to the first post by cigrmaster to bring some context.

The first post my cigrmaster isn't even a personal experience he's just repeating what you 3 guys are saying

pipeman7: "Ok and you tried cabbie's before the merger that had no "scenting"?"
No and because of this bad experience, I'll never buy Cabbie's Mixture again. If I ever get this "scent" in a SG tobacco that's not supposed to have it, well SG will have one less customer. Such is life after 30 years of pipe smoking, I've become picky with my tobaccos and how I spend my money. The trust between seller and buyer is still sacred in this day and age.

I have only tried one tin of Cabbies and here is the description from tobaccoreviews.
A Virginia and perique twist hand rolled, then hand sliced. A sweet natural Virginia taste takes centre stage when lit with the perique, giving a spicy undertone to the flavour.
I looked at other blends and found this under flavorings.

Floral Essences, Other / Misc

Cream, Floral Essences, Other / Misc

Tonquin Bean, Whisky
It seems to me they are pretty specific when they use flavorings, so if there are no flavors listed under Cabbies Mixture I have to assume there is not supposed to be any.

If you read past my first post you will see where I posted this.
I lit up a bowl of that Cabbies Mixture dated 2/9/16 and it most definitely DOES have some Lakeland essence to the flavor. It is not over the top or even annoying, but it is there and it shouldn't be.

I’ve had over 20 tins of Cabbies Mixture, I love the stuff! Most of the 20 tins were not scented, they were just a straight up VaPer, if you listen to Bob’s description of the blend before it was released he describes it as an unadulterated VaPer coin. So far it has been the rule and not the exception and like I described on an earlier post it seems like about 1 out of 5 tins has that Lakeland scent, at least from the haul that I’ve purchased for myself. So regardless if it’s meant to have it or not, something is going wrong here as there have been documented inconsistencies! If it’s meant to have the flavor, than it should consistently have it, if not, then one should expect Cabbies Mixture not to have it, it should not be a gamble everytime you buy a new tin.
But, ya can’t fix stupid, so I’m not going to even try. This is my last post on the subject!

So 4 out of the 20 tins you bought you had the "scenting", and i assume you were able to return them and get a refund just like when FVF you bought had the "scenting"?

I have 24 Cabbies unopened tins in my cellar. I read the description about the blend and it sounded so good I ordered 25 right out of the gate. I like the discount from smokingpipes when you order 20 tins or more. I figured it would be a no brainer as I love my other SG flakes. Now I am concerned my other tins might or might not have the Lakeland flavors. I am going to age them like I do all my other blends and 5 years from now I will see what is what. Here is the order info from my smokigpipes order history.

heres what i'm curious about, what is the specific flavoring you guys all claim to taste? Lakeland isn't a flavor as we've established.

Because the thing is this, you can tell by look, smell, touch the difference between a GH and SG blend. In fact I have almost every blend on hand jarred with no labels and I can always tell what blend and always whether its SG or GH is instantly recognizable.
