I'm curious to know how often others smoke their pipe. I tend to spark up every 2 or 3 hours. Is this too much or isn't there a general frequency that's accepted by experienced pipe smokers?

Nothing is general among how each of us smoke so don't limit you're thinking to smoking the way others do. I smoke 5-6 pipefuls per day at work and sometimes up to 10 on the rare day off.
I smoke when I want to. This works out on average to about 3-5 bowls per day.

I smoke pretty much every day, all day long. Anywhere between 3-10 bowls a day. On rare occasions, I might not smoke a single bowl. It ain't a competition, just do your thing.
I’m only 4 years into smoking a pipe, I was averaging 3-7 bowls a day before I got covid then my multiple yearly sinus infections and then getting covid again. Took some time off and now I’m around 0-3 bowls a day. I wouldn’t be worried about what is accepted, do what feels right for you!
During the week, I probably get 6 to 8...although I generally smoke pipes with smaller bowls. On the weekends, 4 to 5, but I use bigger bowls
Since COVID and my limited sense of taste / smell, I've only smoked at most once a week, if that. I hope to get back to a few times a week. I purposefully limit my smoking to keep risk factors very low.
I don't smoke my pipes when I'm sleeping, eating and taking a shower. Other then that the pipe is permanent fixture in my mouth.

As many as circumstances and desire allow. Eight to twelve a day on average. My brand of cigarettes went away so, more bowls per day.
I’m with @ray47 . If I were to count them, probably works out to 8-12 bowls a day.
To me pipe smoking is like eating in a restaurant. If you do it on a daily basis, it becomes mundane, it’s not so special anymore. That’s why I try to limit myself. I’m fortunate enough not to be addictive, so the urge to smoke, drink or what have you, isn’t present in my system. When I do smoke (usually during the weekends), I smoke only one pipe a day.
I'm a one-pipe-each-evening kind of guy.

3 bowls a day is plenty enough for me
I only smoke after working, and at home. Averagely I smoke around 2 to 3 bowls per day.
I might smoke 2-3 times a week if that much. I’ve enjoyed learning from the good members here so that I can enjoy a bowl when I want.
