Can y'all tell be about this little Peterson system I just picked up at a local auction? I believe it's some kind of special edition. Came in an elegant red box. It's marked with Peterson Dublin on one side and republic stamping on the other. Its shape and size is 8S. Year code is 1985. What's interesting to me and that I haven't seen is the P with a wooden circle. What's that all about? Anyone know the story on this pipe? Considering the only reference (and I’m no CPG) I could find of this style is reference to a Peterson “Book Set”, I’d venture to say you have a genuine Paddy Larrigan made limited edition.

Paddy did the Briar circles those are very rare if you want to make money have it cleaned up and auction it on the bay there will be a lot of interested folks.

You're holding probably a dream pipe for a Pete geek born in 85. If it was my birth year I'd be drooling all over this.

Yup that is my birth year (U letter hallmark, same letter of my last name initial) and it would be a holy grail of sorts for me, a small bent dutch with a briar circle but alas, it would go for more than I could spare, folks really boost prices on pipes these days and I won't spend a small fortune over sane prices on pipes anymore.

I have a birth year 12.5s and 4s an 8s would be nice but I doubt he's interested in a trade as he said he won't be letting it go.
