I cleaned up my desk and felt I should show some of my Kaywoodie pipes, ranging from the early twenties to earlier this month. Minus the leather carved and the calabash, everything on top of the desk is Kaywoodie with a few Medico and Yello-bole pipes thrown in. It has always upset me that we only have an American thread, but no Kaywoodie thread.
Although I’m a disciple of Lee Star Grade pipes the very finest American factory pipe in my stash is a Large Dublin #13 Kaywoodie Flame Grain. I own two other #13 Dublins, a Super Grain and Drinkless, that are nice pipes but not anything to brag about.

It pays to cruise eBay. The seller said nothing about this being a Large Dublin, didn’t mention the 4 hole stinger, and didn’t clean it up. It’s on the way to me for $27.65 delivered, and I was the only bidder.

That is quite the lucky find!

I really do not see the point to be smoking a pipe with metal shank like the pipe above and all the falcons etc.they are interesting design but smoking them? For me only wood and rubber...I am old school...You guys do not taste any aluminum aftertaste or they do not get hot?

Mine smokes fine. I've only used it a couple times because I have way too many pipes but nothing funky about the actual smoking experience.
It’s in the bottom of a box now, beside my Kaywoodie Magnum, but my aluminum radiator pipe has two bowls, both briar, and they don’t taste the same.

They are neither bad smokers, but you can tell the difference.

My best factory pipe is a Kaywoodie #13 Flame Grain 4 hole stinger. My worst pipe is a Kaywoodie Magnum I keep to remind myself that briar really matters.

The Magnum is horrible, almost unsmokable, hot, wet, and proof that Kaywoodie fell a long ways down, before they went back up.

Haven't tried it yet and I have also never tried a Falcon. While not metal, I do enjoy a clay pipe from time to time as well.

and a later Standard 114 with some lovely grain,I have read that the later pipes (I think this is 1970s onwards) are not so good but this one called to me and appears in great condition

I saw that Drinkless Kaywoodie 7751. Needs some serious restoring, but stinger intact and should turn out great. And. 4 digit number mean this one is an old soul. Good catch!
