Here's some of mine, if anyone wants to see.

Kaywoodie Standard 05, 4 hole stinger

Kaywoodie Standard 22 billiard

Kaywoodie Relief Grain H6 Hi Bowl cutty. Finally started smoking great after reaming the cake down, I hated how it smoked but I guess tar was gunked up in there. The draw was really restricted. There's 1 other NOS apple kaywoodie I got that is like that, though. However I was shocked that the draw was much improved with a few twists with the ream kit.

Happy Friday All,
Here is an English made Kaywoodie Relief Grain Prince of Wales 96 I restored the other day. Unfortunately, a previous steward altered the stinger but the outsides are still beautiful. If you would like to have a link to the full restoration blog, PM me. I am not allowed to post links to the blog.
Have a good one

A kaywoodie I got that I have yet to clean up. I assume this is a newer kaywoodie but I’m totally confused by the stamp. I’m not sure if this is normal but it looks like it got stamped twice. The indented number reads 189 which I believe is only a shape number for a bulldog, according to this list. The other number isn’t even a shape number. I don’t know if this is a 70s pipe with a factory mistake or an even newer kaywoodie where whatever these numbers mean nothing.

It looks older than 70s for sure, I'd guess 60s. Nathan Davis may know more about the stampings than I do, but it does not look recent to me. I have some that look to be from the same era.

I love old American pipes. I especially like Kaywoodies and Linkman Grabows. Towards the end of my collecting, I really fell for Marxman pipes, too. I like them all, mind you. Weber, Custom-Bilt, Tom Howard, LHS, and most of the rest.

Here are my Kaywoodies:

And a few I keep apart:

A calabash

And a 150 year anniversary pipe from 2001

Wow, nice pipes. I'm currently looking for an LHS and Marxman copy of a Custombilt. Good to hear they are quality. Any good ones to look for ?

I only have one LHS, there was a guy on here with the handle danielplainview who knew a LOT about them. He hasn't been on in a while though.

I only go after Custom-Bilt pipes made by Tracy Mincer. I think Custombilts were made later.

I have a couple of Marxman pipes with that type of scoring. They are pretty fun. You want to aim for a 400, if you can find one.

I like some of the figurals, myself.

Here is my 400 and my favorite carved Marxman. If i was still buying pipes id look for more. Marxman pipes are great.

Yeah, a lot of the Custombilt I see are later, mostly Wally Frank and while I have 2 Wally Frank pipes, I wouldn't wanna pay Mincer era prices for Wally Frank Made pipes. I know the lack of a dash means it isn't from the Mincer era as far as I know.

I'll put the 400 on the want list. It was just the other day someone recommended Marxman when I said I was going to get a Yello Bole or Kaywoodie Handmade Custom-Bilt copy. I just don't know much about Marxman and a lot of the shapes aren't what I'm exactly looking for. Thanks.

Yeah, the Marxman pipes are an acquired taste. I definitely didn't start hunting one right out the gate. There was a series of ebay auctions from the estate of director George Sidney and that is where I got my 400. It came with that tamper, which helped. lol
