Have you seen the one on eBay where the gold foil is 9/10 missing and the seller is asking like $500?Here’s a Drinkless Thorn Push Stem and Gold Foil Clover
No, but it doesn’t surprise me. I had five gold foil pipes. Sold four to one collector for $350 each. The one I kept I paid $50 for. And it the rarest of the bunch.Have you seen the one on eBay where the gold foil is 9/10 missing and the seller is asking like $500?
I had a truly amazing Dorset Knotty shape 05 with near perfect ring grain. I ended up using it in a trade with a Kaywoodie lover named Fletch Hiner. One of the few pipes I've let go that I wish I still had.No, but it doesn’t surprise me. I had five gold foil pipes. Sold four to one collector for $350 each. The one I kept I paid $50 for. This was made from 1972 to 1980 when they moved factories. All I know about this pipe is, it’s beautiful and what’s written on it.
Kaywoodie Drinkless Imported Briar

This is likely from the late thirties or 1940. That shape does not show up until the catalog from 1939, so probably one of the last four digit shapes produced.smoked the 50B and liked it so much I bought another Kaywoodie.
This time a Super Grain 5131C that I believe is from the 1930.sView attachment 153319

Thank you! I wish it didn’t have a stinger, I promised the wife I’d only smoke with filters. Oh well. At least I have that as a model of something to look for. This was made from 1972 to 1980 when they moved factories.
Filters really only remove moisture, which the stinger also does. So it is like a filter of sorts...Thank you! I wish it didn’t have a stinger, I promised the wife I’d only smoke with filters. Oh well. At least I have that as a model of something to look for.
yeah seller stated late 1930s and there is an article in pipephil stating 1935-38 because of the imported briar stamping.i dont know how accurate pipephil isThis is likely from the late thirties or 1940. Nothing is 100% accurate. I talk to Bill all the time, who has done the most research. Stamps and stingers defy our information. In a factory old stummels get finished later and all kinds of things happen. The best I can pinpoint is late thirties into 1940, but it is simply an educated guess taking all data about the pipe in.yeah seller stated late 1930s and there is an article in pipephil stating 1935-38 because of the imported briar stamping.i dont know how accurate pipephil is
