For me, I think I prefer the blasted Antiquari. From there, it's a toss-up between the standard black and special boxwood stems. But for the boxwood I think I prefer the dot!

The Collection shank is a little short relative the size of the bowl. On the Aristocrata I don’t love the plateau but everything else works. But the biggest problem with both of the pipes is my wallet

Oh, you could always email Luca at Tabaccheria Corti, and tell him exactly what you are looking for, and if possible Castello is able to make it for you. He says he goes all the time to the Castello factory and hand picks out pipes for their business.
Thanks! That’s definitely the show side, the other is a little lumpy but I like that it’s a bit odd and the carver worked around that awesome grain to feature it.

It's too bad the occhio di pernice from Corti isn't your size because the birdseye is pretty rare, especially for a KK. I've seen KKKKs that were much less intricate and symmetrical. The pipe is a tad short for me but compared to most of the Castellos I have, 44gm is on the light side.
Yeah I’ve gone back and forth on it a few times but have held the line (so far). The shank length is just an aesthetic preference I still really love the pipe as is. But it would be my most expensive pipe by a large margin so I’ve told myself that if I’m going to spend that much it should probably be a pipe that (in my eyes) is perfect. I agree with your priority. A beautiful pipe you don't enjoy smoking is a waste and once you smoke it you can't recover the cost. I have a few of those.

Just curious, and I hear you on the aesthetic piece for sure... but have you tried a shorter pipe like that? I have one that I really like, and to me it doesn't seem short when I smoke it. Also, perceived weight is a function of weight + length, all else equal...
But I also agree with @dunnyboy, if it seems off to you then probably don't do it
For my eye I like the 23’s I likest my women short and chubby! Love the big fat bowl with a perfectly proportioned tapered shank through the stem. I don’t like them stretched out. They are hard to find!
Yeah I absolutely love pipes of that size, both the look and function! My favorite is a Dunhill 320 but I've got several others that I really enjoy.
Why this one doesn't quite scratch the itch is that it's more of an oval-shanked short billiard since the shank length and stem are nearly even in length. This doesn't take away at all from how beautiful it is but it just doesn't hit the canadian proportions that I'm looking for. I want the shank length to be somewhat longer than the stem. It doesn't have to have a long shank and stubby stem like many canadians have. Even a little more shank than stem will do, like the L'Antara below.
I normally haven't been quite this discerning in the past which has been fine but has led me to eventually move the pipe along. And the price of this 33 is on average 3.5 times as expensive as any of my other pipes and would be the most expensive.
My first Castello. A castello "castello" KK made most importantly in 2016 when my daughter was born. I haven't smoked it yet but once I find a virginia perique blend that works for me since Escudo changed their recipie and it bites my toung now, this pipe will be dedicated to it

Crap, I’m not sure how I’ll ever buy a Castello now, as I need to use a filter. But, I plan to get the meerschaum bowl filters @Said.ALTINAY makes to put at the bottom of the chamber, on my pipes that don’t have filters, and I hope this works.
