This one has been dedicated to Union Square from the start, and has seen some fine vintages.
Here she is new and with first smoke:

There is a particular Castello artisan- those of you with a few of these will know what I mean- that does these lovely sort of rounded buttons and bite zones. My billiard is like this too. I could pick their work out of a lineup

That is a great smoking pipe.

IMG_3862.jpegIMG_3863.jpegNew petite #15 I guess it is, not really a billiard but more pot like. Been looking for a little traveler pipe that’s light but keeps the U shaped bowl and wall thickness like my #33’s. This one has a purple saddle bit and so far smokes very well with the same open draw that I like and is light as a feather enabling a very easy clench. The #33 in the pic is for reference.

I took delivery of two new to me GG/GGG65’s from a member of my pipe family and I was unexpectedly surprised with these very unique pieces from another good friend. The le Dune G67 is very unique. I’ve never seen another with a carving anything like it. The Pi tamper has very Epoca like drips and under carving. Both very unique and special to me!

It's a lovely pipe Ben. I needed a pipe/pipes for when we travel, shorter smoke and smaller pipe overall than my #33's. I am going to hunt for another the same so keep your eyes peeled for me.
Of course!

This was probably made by the same artisan, although a bit bigger than yours

Corti also has a few much smaller saddle stem pot-billiards, as well as 2 "mini" 33s. Let me know if you'd like links, they are all in my "saved" list

Very interesting and unique!

Do you smoke your extra-large pipes? I've been considering a big and straight Greatline, but am uncertain..

Yes! I smoke my larger pipes almost exclusively. The issue I have with the Dublinesque GL’s is I don’t really like the conical chamber. Love me a big U shaped tobacco bucket.

Thanks Dave

I've been eyeing this big U shaped tobacco bucket, but I'd hate to buy it and find that I seldom used it

*lovely turn of phrase btw

... but I'd hate to buy it and find that I seldom used it

But what if you bought it and discovered you like big chambers more than average-sized ones?

Hmmmmmm??? puffy

This Great Line was what started me down the jumbo road, and I haven't looked back:

That's a magnificent pipe for sure

Thing is, I already do like big chambers. Got a Castello pot, loved it. 22 X 36 or thereabouts.

Couple years later got a big G Canadian, roughly 22 X 44 chamber. Good times, even clenchable for brief periods (about 150 long, 46gm)

Question is- do I step it up even more? And if so, is that the pipe?

Comments and critiques of that pipe very welcome. $1K is a big outlay for me, would be the most I've ever spent..

The chamber is on the upper end of a group 4. Around the same size as a Savinelli 111 but the button is massive.

I got a Canadian from there earlier this year during a clearance sale with a 1"×2" chamber but really had to work the button down.

Maxim is great to work with and even has a layaway option.
