Is it the case that the US stamped Castellos are less true to their shape number than non-US stamped ones? I ask because the Castellos I've seen that "don't look quite right" often had the US stamp.

Interesting question. I haven't had a lot of US stamped Castellos but I have not noticed a difference. Mind you, Castello often does variations on a shape even from Italy, or even shapes that are not in their shape chart.

Natural Virgin 4K shape 30. Its pretty hefty and has a large chamber, first smoke was a luxury navy flake and it smoked like a dream right to the bottom.

Nice

Love the smooth and waxed rim.

My Vergin is rusticated all around, including rim. I learned that when they're like this they will absorb and darken from the smoke that curls over them, ain't nothin you can do about it.

*well, maybe always smoking it perfectly parallel to the floor, but no. We're not doing that

I’m noticing it picks up colour pretty quickly, I love that though. I’ve seen some great looking natural pipes here!

I had a strange interaction with Maxim where he sent me a different Northern Briars pipe than pictured and then refused to acknowledge that fact, despite Ian himself confirming they were different pipes. I was very polite and gave him many opportunities to save face but he wasn‘t amenable.

He does have a great Castello selection but I’ve been uneasy about giving him my business again after that experience.

I am so weak. No restraint what so ever...... It's an illness I tell you......

Just arrived and a pipe I have longed for since being a Castello collector. I have had a few in this series, but all have been too large for me. This is a Castello Old Antiquari 2k Presiosa. The stone flock is Kimberlite ( a stone ). The pipe is just over 5 inches long. When I was at the Castello workshop I asked Franco why more in this series were not created. I was told that IF they are lucky, they end up with one out of every 12 attempts, due to the stone cracking.
