Is it the case that the US stamped Castellos are less true to their shape number than non-US stamped ones? I ask because the Castellos I've seen that "don't look quite right" often had the US stamp.

Interesting question. I haven't had a lot of US stamped Castellos but I have not noticed a difference. Mind you, Castello often does variations on a shape even from Italy, or even shapes that are not in their shape chart.

Natural Virgin 4K shape 30. Its pretty hefty and has a large chamber, first smoke was a luxury navy flake and it smoked like a dream right to the bottom.

Love the smooth and waxed rim.

My Vergin is rusticated all around, including rim. I learned that when they're like this they will absorb and darken from the smoke that curls over them, ain't nothin you can do about it.

*well, maybe always smoking it perfectly parallel to the floor, but no. We're not doing that

I’m noticing it picks up colour pretty quickly, I love that though. I’ve seen some great looking natural pipes here!
