Well done, Arno!! Nice to see you posting here.
I'm a little slow.In 2018 the then Managing Director was “moved” and things immediately began to change. The methods of production that had stood the brand in good stead for over 200 years and bred success, was called into question and declared “wrong”!
Wow, big coincidence that it was 2018. Why does that year sound so familiar?
PM sentI'm a little slow.
WTF was 2018?
I barely remember it.
It was the year that Rick Newcombe and I introduced Ken Barnes pipes at the WCPS, but I doubt that's what ChasingEmbers is referring to. It's also the year that constituent substitutions in blends started to accelerate.I'm a little slow.
WTF was 2018?
I barely remember it.
I'd assumed it was something to do with McClelland in some odd way.I'll take @Chasing Embers for $100! There have been a bazillion posts on here about changes to blends post 2018!
Like I said, I’m a little slow.I'll take @Chasing Embers for $100! There have been a bazillion posts on here about changes to blends post 2018!
No, it has something to do with Chem Trails, 5G, The Knights of Columbus and Chuck Barris’ CIA kill count (Barris died in 2017, owing my father-in-law $40)I'd assumed it was something to do with McClelland in some odd way.
That would be 2015...I'd assumed it was something to do with McClelland in some odd way.
Beat me to it Chasing Embers . Where have I heard old hands say that number before? Hmm.In 2018 the then Managing Director was “moved” and things immediately began to change. The methods of production that had stood the brand in good stead for over 200 years and bred success, was called into question and declared “wrong”!
Wow, big coincidence that it was 2018. Why does that year sound so familiar?
Because 2018 was the year that McClelland bit the dust, and BAT pulled the plug on "Dunhill" blends, or that K&K made changes to a lot of their blends, or that Doblone d'Oro stopped tasting like the old Va/Per Three Nuns, or that cheap West African DFK got shoved into EVERYTHING, or...I'd assumed it was something to do with McClelland in some odd way.
I would never have imagined such a thing happening to Samuel Gawith had someone not told me.Because 2018 was the year that McClelland bit the dust, and BAT pulled the plug on "Dunhill" blends, or that K&K made changes to a lot of their blends, or that Doblone d'Oro stopped tasting like the old Va/Per Three Nuns, or that cheap West African DFK got shoved into EVERYTHING, or...
I have no idea.
This sounds like another example of listening to feedback on social media always draws the wrong conclusions. No that was the date that Ennerdales flavor profile changed!
For my entire time on this forum, members who stated they enjoyed the Ennerdale and other "Lakeland" profiles have wondered wondered what changed around 2018.This sounds like another example of listening to feedback on social media always draws the wrong conclusions.
For my entire time on this forum people have mocked Lakeland blends for the strength of topping, according to consensus of opinion on the forums Ennerdale was being made wrong for the last 200 years and it needed to change.
Problem is the people who didn't like Ennerdale before aren't going to start liking it now, and changing the toppings also reduces its appeal to people who were already fans of the classic Lakeland recipe.
Another problem is that GH's "official" representative publicly denied anything changed.Problem is the people who didn't like Ennerdale before aren't going to start liking it now, and changing the toppings also reduces its appeal to people who were already fans of the classic Lakeland recipe.
Off the top of my head I can only think of three.people have mocked Lakeland blends for the strength of topping
