what gets me is the level of snobbery some folks have. That some how only right way is their way and everyone else should stop pretending to even be a pipe smoker if they even slightly enjoy 1-q or other aros or don't vomit so violently it's life threatening with anything but the finest English or whatever. That annoys and entertains me in equal volumes. There are a few more minor issues but they're more eye rollers then forehead slappers.

Anyways. My pet peeve is a tobacco that has a great tin or pouch note but tastes like mothballs or dirty liquor when your smoke it.
yeah. That sucks. Never really encountered that entirely. But I have asked where the heck those notes went to. Happens most with overly aromatic tobaccos. Oh that smells like tobacco and fruit and a little smokey, how particularly nice. Oh it tastes like fruit and there is zero hint that it's made with tobacco otherwise then how it burns.

I'm often annoyed by shop clerks in tobacco B&Ms, who have no idea how a certain tobacco will taste or even if it's an aromatic or not. Once, I asked in a B&M, if a certain blend contains Burley and I was answered, that I should have looked that up on the Internet before I got into the shop.

It seems like the mere mention of CB/1Q really ruffles some feathers... I never meant to imply anyone is less of a pipe smoker for liking the stuff! I just hope the folks that get defensive about popular American aros getting called out for being too ooey-gooey aren't the same folks that call Lakelands urinal cakes and granny panties, or Lat blends tire fires! That would make it on my pet peeve list, for sure. Nothing wrong with calling things the way you see them, that goes in both directions. I just don't get the defensiveness.

better they admit ignorance then that garbage where they pretend to know things when they really don't. You know when you think oh some old pipe smokers told you something and you remembered half of it (the useless half).

Definitely right. But it's a miracle to me, that B&Ms often do not take advantage of their main strength against online sales, which is a solid man to man sales advice.

That is an excellent point! At my local B&M, the folks that work there are great with cigar advice, but are kind of ‘deer in headlights’ on pipe blends. The obvious take-away being we are a very small minority of customers, at least in most parts of the US. At least it’s understandable, though your point remains.
