They seemed a little rusty tonight. As a Sens fan, I'm not worried. I have faith in this group, they should bounce back. Their MO all year is to confound and vex. They play mediocre one night, get written off, then bounce back and look like world beaters. The joys of a rebuild, the kids need to bring it every night. Pittsburgh is not Montreal.
Consistent scoring is an issue, and they can't just rely on Spezza when he gets back. He's been gone too long.

First time in 40 years for the Bruins/Rangers?! I didn't know that, thats completely bizarre with the amount of times they've both made playoffs . . .

It is pretty mind boggling to think that it's been that long since the B's and Rangers have met in the playoffs. They've both been consistent solid teams making the playoffs the last five or so years and even in the 90s they did too until Boston fell off and started rebuilding with the brief Joey Thornton era around 97. Should be a fun series. Can't wait for Thursday night!
As for this evening, GO HAWKS!

No, Chris Neil just hasn't hit the nasty button yet. Once he does the Sens will own that series. Pitt doesn't really have a player to match him and they proved last year when they do try and mix it up they get owned. Philly dominated that series aside from one game.

Pens are going all the way this year. Fleury knocked in 3 goals in game 4 of the series. Rookie mistake to leave him after the first one. They're clearing the zone so much faster now. They'll shut the Sens down again in game 2.

Well, after watching 11 hours of the World Championships earlier today it's time for the Rangers/Bruins and than the Sharks/Kings. Great day if you're a hockey fan.
Let's Go Rangers and Good Luck to USA Hockey on Saturday.

Damn Red Wings! Can't stand that team. I've hated them ever since they became the Yankees of the NHL and were buying up future Hall of Famers at the trade deadline to make Cup runs in the pre-cap era of the late 90s and early 2000s.
+1 I never thought I'd be pulling for the Blackhawks. Gotta say though, the playoffs are a lot better than I thought they would be after the strike/lockout.

Come on Sens, I guess they just can't match the oomph of the Pens. Someone did wack Crosby in the jaw (his shield) in the final minutes, trying to tie the game.
They almost tied it, but they're missing the peskiness they've had. Andy saved our butt all year, but those early goals were a back breaker. Karlsson isn't right, and I don't think Cowen is 100% healthy either. They can still come back in the series, but they put themselves in a big hole.
I have Game 6 tickets too, fingers crossed...

Since the Sens are down two games I take it Neil hasn't fought anyone yet. The key to beating the Pens is playing physical. They can't go toe to toe with a physical team. Karlsson was going for the poke check on that first goal because if he got it the Sens had a three on one the other way. He should have just thrown Sid over his hip though. Why anyone would pass up on hitting Sid is beyond me. If I was in the league I'd be layin' him out every chance I got.

Big win by Boston today, who are now up two games to none. All I have to say is, "Don't poke the bear!".
Game three in Ottawa here in a bit. It'll be Ottawa's to lose. Home crowd will be rockin' with the return of Spezza.

Yeah, the Rangers had nothing today. Their PP is terrible. At least they come home for the next 2. However, the B's have played 2 nice well rounded games.
I hope the Sens win tonight. I hope Spezza can be a difference. We'll see.

Spezza doesn't look too bad so far, Karlsson looks a lot better, Andy is in Beast Mode...

Great game last night. How's about Karlsson making that soccer like pass with his skate after his stick got slashed out of his hands? That kid has some serious skill! Ottawa looked a lot better last night. They tightened things up in the d and neutral zones and put the pressure on in the offensive zone. Anderson stood tall and had a great game. He controlled the rebounds very well. Spezza looked really good for someone who hasn't played since January, especially considering he's only skated in practice a few times with Conacher. I have to say I'm starting to like this Greening kid. Anyone who scores an OT winner against the Pens is good in my book.
Tonight the Hawks roll in to Motown dead even with the Wings. I thought this series might go six and maybe even seven games.
Tuesday is Game 3 of Boston/NYR. Some good did come of the 5-2 loss yesterday for the Blueshirts though. Nash finally got the monkey off his back and netted his first of the playoffs. He looked a lot more like the Rick Nash of Columbus yesterday. He was strong on the puck making good decisions with it and getting himself and it to the net. It seemed like New York's only problem was Girardi's melt down. He was on for all the goals against and his mistakes were rookie-like not thinking or moving his feet mistakes. Expect him to have a big rebound game. I wouldn't be too surprised if the Rangers sat out Richards for a game. He's been pretty non-existent so far in the playoffs. I'm sure there's somebody in Connecticut that could come in and breath some fresh air into the line. NYR seems to have a quality system. Should be a fun game in MSG.

The Pens can go head to head in a physical game. Neil got shut down twice last night by Murray. Morrow puts huge pressure when he's down in Gretzky's office. If they had been watching Alf last night, it wouldn't have gone into OT. There's a reason why Alfredsson is one of the best players of all time, and he rubbed it in the Pens face last night. I'll give him that. But, no props for the Friday night hat trick?
