Hello Gents,
I am 29 years old and from Ottawa,ON. I first tried pipe smoking when I was 23 but was not a fan, I think because I just rammed in the tobacco and starting puffing like a maniac. I can still feel the tongue bite til this day.
So now I just came back from Italy and bought a few pipes and tobacco from there and thought I would give it another try. So far it is great, but where I live is terrible for picking up tobacco and accessories.
Cheers

Ronnie pipeboy: Welcome to the Forums and enjoy. Where exactly is Belle Vernon? Are there any B & M's-bricks and mortar pipe stores near you or you an online guy.

I'm in Virginia and boy is it hot/humid today.

Belle Vernon is about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. I go to a mall that sells pipes and tobacco. That's where I usually get all my goodies.

Hello everybody.
My name is Mason and I have been smoking a pipe since I was a young man in the UK. My pipe mentors all smoked St Bruno flake exclusively and for many years so did I.
My horizons have broadened since then and I now smoke mostly the fine offerings from GL Pease.
I recognise some of you from smokersforums.co.uk. (Their site was recently destroyed by hackers but is up again. You'll have to re-register).
I am the vice president of the Golden Gate Pipe Club. If any of you are ever near San Francisco area, please do visit us.
I have been reading and enjoying the articles in pipesmagazine.com for a while now and look forward to more good reading on the forums.
It is great to be here.
Thanks.

Hi there!

I used to smoke a pipe about 10 years ago, but only as a means to help cut down on cig smoking, so it was all drug store stuff and $5 pipes. I just started a month ago when I found an old friend who makes pipes in his spare time. Now I am "relaxing" into the art of pipe smoking, not as an addiction, but a pleasure. Lots of great knowledge here and I hope to learn a lot! I found this site just by googling around, liked what I have been reading and want to contribute when I can.
Thanks!

Well, I figure it is time to stop lurking and introduce myself.
I'm a 27 year old I.T. Tech from Mississippi who has been smoking cigars for a couple years and decided to give the pipe a try. Hopefully I can absorb some more knowledge through the forums and continue on the never ending quest of learning what the heck I'm doing.

Greetings everyone, I have finally decided to join the forum instead of just reading. I've been smoking for about 10 years or so, I enjoy making pipes so I'll post some pics of my art, and love smoking them even more. I really enjoy collecting pipes and don't have a real preference on which ones I prefer. I've recently purchased my first Savinelli and look forward to lighting it up in the morning.
I live in Byron GA, and frequent the Pipe Dreams shop. If anyone knows another please let me know.

Hi All,

I joined up a few weeks ago. I've been smoking pipes for about 20 years, give or take. My motley collection contains a variety of makes and styles, from old English classics like Pre-Trans Barlings, to modern American pipes by Lee Von Erck and Tony Fillenwarth, with a couple of twisting turns courtesy of Trever Talbert and Paul Tatum. The history and lore of pipes as enjoyable for me as the smokes themselves. Happy to be here.

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking about for quite some time and decided to finally join. The one who rules all decided she didn't like Cope, so she let me pick up my pipe again which I did and enjoy it 6-10 times a day.
We all have our favorite pipes and tobacco's.

Hello all. Been reading a lot of posts here for about the last month and a half. Picked up a Missouri Pride about that time and have been loving it. I have my first real briar on the way and being delivered tomorrow. I went with the majority of opinion and saved a bit more money before choosing. After a tough decision, I went with the Savinelli Roma 313 Prince. Very excited to receive and smoke it tomorrow. Thanks for all the topics and information.

My name is Landon. I live in Christiansburg, VA. I have smoked pipes on and off, since 1999. I love pipes and I am very passionate about them. Before I lost my collection, I had many briars, a few cobs, and a couple of meerschaums. I only have one now; it's a hand carved pipe from apple that my Dad made me many years ago. When I was able to afford it, I use to like smoking tobacco from Milan's in Roanoke, VA (Peaches and Cream). I am trying to get into pipe making, so I have an outlet to manifest my love of pipes into; and to also make a happy buck or two to help my family out.

HI Everyone,

I have been enjoying the website in general and reading the forums. Thought I may as well join. Had a friend give me a Savinelli 15 or 16 years ago and have recently started using it again as it is more fun and tastes better than cigars I was smoking before. Just picked up a basket pipe I am trying to ID too, so I'll find the right forum for that.
You guys have some wonderful looking pipes around here!

Hi ya guys and gals.

Just writing a quick post to let y'all know a little about my situation and a little bit about future intentions. That makes it sound more like a manifesto rather than a hobbyist post on an interweb forum.

Anyhow I've picked up my pipe again after an 18 month hiatus (pause for intake of breath) and decided to start posting on an interweb forum.

I picked this particular website as it has a large percentage of cousins from across the "pond", so hopefully be able to develop a couple of relationships with like minded individuals for banter and trades.

So I am back renewed and with a new pipe being delivered this week sometime (which I shall rate and review when it gets here).

Hopefully I'll be a productive member and bridge the gap between the US and the UK a little more than the "special relationship" our countries already have.

Peace out.

Dave

G'day All,
I'm a new pipe smoker from Melbourne, Australia. I'm a cigarette smoker too and thought I'd give the pipe a go the cut down my cigarettes when at home and also, because they're pretty awesome lol.
Just bought a simple starter pipe (Medico brand) and a few sample pouches of tobacco (cherry and pistachio aromatics). Don't know anything really about techniques, brands, tobacco flavors etc, I'm just winging it and trying new things.
The US looks like the best place for me to get tobaccos and pipes. Australia's smoking laws are downright nanny state ridiculous and our taxes are stupidly high. An ounce of tobacco retails for around $45US!!!
Any info people have on some nice flavors, smoking techniques or anything really, please feel free to message me.
cheers

Hi - the name is mike - live in Hong Kong. Been smoking pipes for most of the last forty years. I ran the house of briar shop in baton rouge louisiana and once had an extensive pipe collection - at a point in my life i liquidated my collection all but one or two pipes for posterity and quit smoking - it was a tragic mistake - the joy of the pipe is too great for me to have let it go - nonetheless, i eventually was restored to my senses and have a few pipes nothing like the magical collection i once had but life goes on and i am happy with what i have - looking forward to the forum
