Hello. I am from the heart of Corn Country where, for all I know, half of the material for cob pipes come from. I tried pipes a few years ago because I wanted to keep my grandpa in mind...he passed away 25 years ago, but we all still miss him. He used to smoke a cherry blend he made himself from an aromatic drugstore blend and a cavendish drugstore pouch he liked. I always remember him as a slow, deliberate, kind, gentle man, and the smell of pipe tobacco when he'd smoke in the evening resting was inviting. Eventually I lost my interests in pipes because I took up drinking instead, which took me several years to get out of. I've been sober for about eight years now, and went through my cigar phase about six years plus ago, but now found a couple of old pipes that encourage me to take up those again. I never tried the expensive tobaccos like I did with cigars, but at least now I am not going overboard while still getting better than drugstore brands. I don't remember the brand of cherry my grandpa liked, so I am trying some I found at an online site not named here. I have those two old pipes plus three cobs I just bought for the price so I could learn about pipe smoking on a budget, and am planning to spend my money more on new tobaccos than on new pipes. There is much to learn about pipe smoking, and I will take my time doing it. Thanks for listening.
