Or cash.I’d at least try one to see if I wanted to keep the rest or change them into tobacco I prefer.
Or cash.
Exactly. I’d take 100 tins of Fayyum over 20 tins of FM any day, haha. Matter of fact I’d take 20 tins of Fayyum over 100 of FMYes, you could convert those 20 tins of FM into 100 tins of outstanding tobacco.
I always find it comical how much people are willing to pay for it.
There’s nothing average about the tin art.

You don't got to even think as exotic as Fayyum, just think about GLP. 90% of his catalog is worth squishing that frog over. One night of beer and pizza and Pease could fart out an English blend that would probably be better
Rip off the label, rub it out and load your pipe. Let me know how that smokes.
I've often wondered why Plum Cake doesn't come up more often as an alternative to FMC. Or Pembroke for that matter, which is pretty easy to find in half-pound bags at some B&Ms.In English crossover comparisons, I've always favored Mac Baren's Plum Cake and The Solent Mixture to Frog Morton.
The only other time I’ve seen an army like that is when @chasingembers let’s his out on furlough ...?Frog bashing aside, there is some interesting conversation here.
I'm someone who gravitates toward sweet latakia blends and have always really liked all of the Frogs. I have a bunch of tins and never hesitate to crack one open when the mood strikes. My McClelland VA and VA/Per stash, however, has been sitting untouched for years. I've never tried any of them. This is mostly because I generally do not like straight VA and have drifted away from VaPers despite putting significant effort into trying to like them. For now, sweet and smoky blends are my thing and I have no desire to fight that. I hope that someday my palate will come around to truly appreciate VAs and VaPers and I look forward to digging into my McClellands as soon as a I detect even a subtle sign that I might enjoy them. If that time ever comes I'll probably buy a pipe to dedicate to this chapter of my pipe smoking journey because all of my pipes have now seen several years worth of latakia smoking.
Here's what I have to work with. The Frogs, Balkan Blue, and Balkan Beauty are all a part of my current rotation. The ones patiently awaiting their turn include:
#24 Matured Virginia (3)
#27 Matured Virginia (1)
40th Anniversary (2)
Beacon Extra (2)
Blackwoods Flake (3)
Boston 1776 (1)
Christmas Cheer (2)
Mike and Russ Mind Meld Va/Per (1)
Dark Star (1)
Navy Cavendish (2)
Tudor Castle (1)

He won't know. I'm not suggesting that Austin shouldn't open up a tin and smoke it, just that the Latakia may change in a way that's good (or not good, depending on the palale of the smoker). As for picking out the right pipe. There's no way to do that without smoking the blend in a number of pipes.
Frog Morton is hardly the holy Grail. I always viewed Frog as a starter blend.
What I find odd is how little people discuss On the Town.
