So I'm sitting here smoking my connoisseur and i noticed there is E1 stamped on the bottom of the stem. Have any of you seen this before or know what it means? I havent seen anything like that on any of my other kaywoodies.

It's a good time to be selling dirty Kaywoodie shank logos. Might be pretty nice restored though.

Wow, I lost track of that one, $200+, amazing.
I was very interested in this one, but it went way beyond my budget (reverse logo, 4 hole stinger). I don't follow KW meers real close, but I don't recall ever seeing this shape.

I haven't been watching Kaywoodies lately. I'm concentrating on the older American stuff and occasionally one intrudes into my searches.

That is a really nice pipe in wonderful condition Al! I've had a few meers in the chunky shape lines. They are desirable in any line. There is nothing documented on all the shapes that were made in the meer line so there are lots of surprises. I've had several that appeared to be late 40s oversize pipes. So few come up for sale that many of the shapes seem unique. That can't be the case, but the meers in general don't come up for sale much. Really good ones even less so. For that pipe, in that condition, with the case in it's almost perfect shape, that's a reasonable price. A little higher than I'd expect, but not out of line. Plus, bent pipes seem to go a little higher.

Here's one I forgot I had...... found it tucked away in the back of my bookcase.......

Its a fairly large meer, 6 1/2" long, bowl is 2' tall, bore is 15/16". It has the 4 hole stinger marked "drinkless", and the yellow swirled stem is mesmerizing to look at......

I haven't smoked this in years, think I'll fire it up this week-end!!

I'm guessing this is 1940s era, not really sure. This was one of those old flea market finds years ago. I think it was marked $8.00 and I offered the guy a five and he sold it to me....... :)

Hey Beefeater! Pretty nice pipe for $5! That would be a score at $50. I had an apple like that. I also have a full bent rusticated meer with that stem. Those are good quality hard Bakelite stems. I think Flame Grains were the only briars to use those stems. I know the Flame Grains with those stems were not stamped Ambera. So I'm guessing Kaywoodie dropped the Ambera designation with the new stems. I agree with 40s- early 50s.

Common sense returns to eBay, or someone got a great deal!

ssjones, The seller noted that there were problems of over-buffing and over-reaming.
:P

I sold that one!
Made a $4 profit over original purchase price LOL

Although I kinda liked it,

it weren't a keeper.

On another note...
I was unaware that KB&B made a monoblock allbriar --- I'm highly interested in these oldtimey pipes and I would have been a bidder if I had seen it --- I only found it by chance after the auction had ended.
Unsmoked!

I missed this one by $8 last week, an unsmoked, smooth Heritage Prince shape.
