Somewhere on eBay a Leeds-era Ben Wade has been fitted with a copper ring and mesh screen to make it suitable for "cannabis consumption". I honestly never thought I'd see the day.

A couple of more auctions that were fun to watch.

This ODA Dunhill didn't quite do as well as the example that sold by this seller a few weeks ago.

Despite ( or because of ) the crappy pictures and the inaccurate description this Dunhill Tanshell peaked my interest:

Given the blast and shape execution I suspected a Patent Dunnie ; quite some beauty under the grime .
So I decided to bid . It was a gamble that proved to be a lucky ( or learned ) one .
The pipe is a 1952 Patent and Patent Tanshells are not thick on the ground.
A very dirty stummel and it took two washings with lukewarm water and a drop of olive oil soap
to get the stummel cleaned up . My guess was a lucky one; it is a beautiful pipe.
The stem came of easily and showed an inner tube jammed stuck in it.
Some alcohol , a little patience and I managed to wiggle it out . Lucky coincidence; the inner tube saved the white spot from discolouring and it look crisp. So do the stampings on the stummel.
The pipe is in the proccess now and hopefully will look stunning when finished.
I also bid because I found myself in dire need for consolation; the day before I missed a 1952 Tanshell in the rare 196 shape by 15,00 :( It was on a Dutch auction site and went for a mere 90,00 .

This cased GBD set with silver mount (one unsmoked) did quite well in the UK.

Yes it did, and I know the new owner is very happy to have snapped it up! Hopefully he posts photos later so we can get a closer look. 😁

Ok, who paid $200+ for an over buffed Republic System Standard Sandblast? Are you trying to drive prices up? Cause that’s how you drive prices up… 😂

Don't forget the "Rustiblast" comment shore to be the culprit of higher bidding. But in no way rare enough for that price lol.

It’s a great shape and actually the only Peterson I own, but I agree, it’s not my favorite finish (I got the PSB).
