I think the pipe gods are telling me to save money for the PPN pipe.
About 4 to 5 pipes that I had my eye on mysteriously vanished as I mulled over the decision to bid or purchase. Great pipes at amazing prices and all styles I've been wanting.
It's time for me to listen to the universe. Hopefully this means the PPN will be amazing (or something else is coming my way).

Yes, my research has established that a time machine was indeed invented by Reuben Charatan in 1921 which he immediately used to hurdle 43 years into the future. After arriving in 1964 London he stayed only long enough to grab a newly minted double comfort stem (an ironic name if ever there was one), buy a pair of DayGlo bell bottom trousers at Carnaby Street, and catch a quick set by The Who at the Marquee Club before rushing back to 1921. I noticed now, selling some books on Ebay, that they have an AI listing feature. It worked well with my books, but I wonder if some sellers are using that to list pipes?

Not eBay, and not a pipe, so apologies if this is the wrong thread. But it is British tobacco that just sold at auction! I wonder if anyone knows who got this? I make it 50 or 51 tins of Three Nuns, plus 5 tins of Cut Golden Bar, plus at least 15 pouches of three nuns. I guess the orange pouches are also Cut Golden Bar but I've never seen a pouch of it.
Further to that post, I should probably say how much it sold for - £3,200, plus fees of 20 or so per cent.
I'm very glad you censored the website information for that auction before posting the photo. I remember 2 - 3 years ago before the genie was let out of the bottle that lots like the one you posted were still accessible to the average collector. In the spirit of this subforum we don't divulge such information for that very purpose---to not unwittingly increase competition for our forum brothers. I think over the years well-meaning forum members have brought such resources to the attention of the active pipe community as well as the thousands of lurking non-participant overseas buyers scanning for Esoterica and other rare gems. I would like to think that this exciting lot went to someone we know or an equivalent collector rather than a deep-pocketed reseller for faraway markets. I can only urge other forum members to apply similar discretion to our greater benefit.
I still get some bargains from that website, but almost none from eBay these days. Most things I find for a good price now are from Facebook or Gumtree, or from junk/antique shops.
At approximately $5,000 for the lot, that was a pretty good deal for someone, but also clearly shows that it's a site known to pipe and tobacco aficionados, so the competition is already there. Don't be too surprised if these turn up on tinbids.
If finding these sites is important then all one had to do is make the effort to find them. So I don't object to hoarding information in this instance, just as I didn't object to not sharing my Esoterica sources, though that was at the request of the stores, since they didn't want to be badgered with phone calls.
Bottom line is, people are finding this stuff and bidding on it, so the sites aren't exactly hiding, which also makes sense, since it would be counterproductive to their business success.
Go looking for auction sites and thee will find them.
JJ Fox's were selling tins of MM965 from the 60s on behalf of a customer for £200 a pop a year or so ago, so I'm sure if these were bought by someone in the UK they could even sell them via Fox's and double their money.

As much as I loved the condition of that Dunhill and the size was just right for me, the tenon bothered me. Looked like it was drilled for a filter - dunno if that's common for this vintage.At least the pipe hadn’t been topped this time

I was offered it for $750 but I chose to put a hefty down payment on an Italian artisan pipe that I fell in lust with instead.
I believe it is a 8,5 mm tenon and original to the engineering.

I own a similar Dunnie with a same tenon.
