That's a Canadian 56 at top right. Stem/bit is very similar to the Sterling at bottom. Each of my '9BC' stems is different (some shorter, some with wider bits, some with flatter extended bits) - it's possible that one person at Peterson was responsible for the Canadian stems and that he/she also made other stems that sometimes, but not always, ended up on pipes imported by Rogers.
You are right, my Deluxe is significantly larger in all dimensions than my much smaller Kapruf.

That Comoy Grand Slam is an interesting shape. Few Dunhill Black Dots in there too! (Kidding about the dot color).

Looks like the deal of the day. One of those is a Dunhill LB patent pipe. I can’t read the patent number, but an underlined 7 should be either 1927 or 1947. Either way worth far more than the BIN price.

Wow, almost $1800!

I was at around $500. Thought this one would go for $2200+ given how much magnum dunhills were going for lately.

Another rare as hen's teeth Barling Pipe. The precursor to Barling's Quaints, these pipes were carved by Horry Jameson, and were stamped "FREAK". They also have a capital "Q" stamped on them, which I infer stands for quaint, as well as a size stamp, an "L" for large. This may be the earliest known use of the size stamp. It's certainly the earliest I have seen.

That seller has fallen into quite the trove of rare and desirable pipes. This one did not play out in an exciting way, but the price was spectacular.

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious a serious collector must have died. Please remove your hats for a moment of silence.🥲
Well, the seller does use the irreverent handle “deadmanspipes.”

If they clean up well, the buyer made a steal. I missed the listing. How long was that listing up before being purchased?

Depends if you're talking about "worth" in emotional terms or money terms.

The stem is too deeply oxidized to be salvageable, and a detectable replacement would torpedo its collectability in the eyes of serious collectors; while an undetectable replacement & stummel refurb isn't cheap.

Yes, there's only one solution for the poor sucker who ended up stuck with these.

What hardship you suffer by George's opinion that you so vehemently object to it, again and again? Do you believe perhaps that by his standards you are the "poor sucker" whose treasure finds are devalued? Like you, I polish up my oxidized stems and do my best with what is within my means, but I don't for a minute disagree with George or, for that matter, believe his statements somehow imply an attack on my person or choices.

???

I was talking about one pipe, not the group ("these"), and I didn't refer to their buyer in any way at all.

Sorry George - it was a VERY poor attempt at humor based on similar remarks you have made about other lots that involved oxidized stems;i.e-severely oxidized stems cannot be recovered and the only solution is to have a new stem made, which basically makes the pipe overpriced.

You've created a straw man.

George and I have disputed each other's opinions here and elsewhere, and joked around and commented on each others' posts. Not a lot, but some. I understand completely that my opinions and my skills pale in value comparison to his. As you imply - he and I don't do the same type of work. He is creating perfection, while I am "do[ing] my best with what is within my means." There is a place for each, in my opinion.

I thought 'Agent Cooper' was dead and buried. I'm no psychiatrist but he's got to be giving you ulcers.

Obviously the LB caught my eye, upon further examination of the photos it’s a 1947. For $10 a pipe it’s well worth the extra effort and cost for an invisible repair. But as a lot with a 10 other pipes, I still think it’s the deal of that day.

He does give me ulcers. He also takes screenshots of the trash you talk about people here on other forums.

I have known people who had huge well-organized files of discussion forum argument screenshots, and pulled them out regularly when they felt the need to do battle with complete strangers in discussion forums. I figured it was something similar to having to honk your horn three times when you lock your car door.

A thread-related thought: There is more pipe knowledge represented here in this single thread, than in all other pipe forums combined.
