Hardcastle Pipe Companion Set | eBay
Hardcastle "in an arch". these pipes are in good condition with sound chambers and the rims have minor darkening which may well polish out. the stems have only minor marks.www.ebay.com
Not really, but should be ( according to Pipedia ) a Family Period Grade.Hardcastle dating is notoriously tricky. Any idea when the set was made?
So fingerprints wet from vinegarWell, I did put finish in quotes! I think George-the-sleuth nailed it. Looking to Jon to publish the research on the type of vinegar and the manufacturer's history if it predates 1870.
Or a suede like artifact of the lighting in the photograph. Grease will do that.So fingerprints wet from vinegar

Comoy's shape 499 is right up there with the rare 256 and very similar to the 256 but even more muscular. It sports a robust double beaded bowl with extra thick walls and generous chamber for its size.www.ebay.com
OK, sorry about that! My apologies. To keep them from exploding we generally wait until after the auction is completed before posting them.

I agree to that! I'm sorry if I broke protocol, I would never. Just got so excited about this pipe, I spit the bit!!! Calling SSJones, LOL! We both love this shape! No worries, chief! Without a doubt that pipe was going to be posted in this thread sooner or later.
That example is very worn - nomenclature, the button in particular, so bid accordingly (I suspect it will still do well). I sold my 499, it was just too big. I prefer the more petite shape 284. But, the 499 sure is sexy! (like a plus-figure super model!)I agree to that! I'm sorry if I broke protocol, I would never. Just got so excited about this pipe, I spit the bit!!! Calling SSJones, LOL! If I buy that pipe, I'll call it Pecker.. . . the 499 sure is sexy! (like a plus-figure super model!)
Sloppily eating a PBJ samich while photographing...Re:The Ben Wade- What might cause the odd "finish" on this panel?
