Okay Mr. Pip, I capitulate to your vast knowledge of tobacco processing. I had absolutely no idea that casing is applied to most pipe tobacco in order to smooth the smoke and enhance the natural flavor profile. I also had no idea that some casings are completely neutral, while others have flavorings like anise, maple, and chocolate. Thank you so much for your helpful and informative posts.
You're welcome and that's Dr. Pip to you. Your prescription? A double dose of take it easy, bud. Go smoke a pipe or somethin'.

Again, you're welcome. Seems like there was a lot you didn't know. Glad I could help!

Never got floral from it just chocolate and molasses. Reminded me a lot of Edgeworth.
Same for me. Edgeworth was the first tin I completely smoked through straight. Thats why I liked burley flake so much.

Cornell and Diehl Burley Flake 2 is the closest thing I can come up with. But I think it's a bit stronger in nic than HHBF.

Yeah I'm not a huge burley guy either but I just mean that (from what I've seen/read) most people who are seem to either like flakes or codger style blends which seems to be alot of what Sutliff/MB had whereas I don't know any real C&D burley forward/only blends other than eight state. Most everything else I've seen from them is some blend containing at least perique and VA but that could be my lack of experience with their catalogue.
Well, I don't know if that's true or not, but I can say I fit that mold... I'm definitely a burley guy and flakes definitely are my preferred cut.

A statement I never thought to expect as I've always seen many consider C&D a burley house first, then everything else.
This one I don't know about at all, I don't know what other people think when they think of C&D, but I personally don't think of them as a burley house first.

Like most other brands, VA-based blends vastly outnumber their portfolio. And beyond OJK, HB, and Pegasus, looking at their most lauded and quickest selling stuff and their small batch releases... for burley you have just Eight State that is really up there, meanwhile the VA small releases that get a lot of hype—all of which get more than Eight State—are Steamworks, CRF and Sun Bear... so I don't even know how someone could have the perception that C&D is a burley house first.

Your response kind of reinforces my perception. You named a number of popular, long existing burley blends that have stood quite a test of time by C&D (Burley blends I know about well, yet I don't smoke. burley) and put it up against small batch VA releases that haven't been around for more than 5 years.

Have you tried C&D Redburn? It's a crumble cake with Burley, Virginia, and Dark Fired. Has a "dark rum and molasses" topping according to the description. I remember liking that one a few years back.
I have not but I have been looking at it. I do like rum topping and dfk with my burley so I am pretty sure I would like it.

Thoughts on Per Georg Jensen's Blenders Collection Burley???
Better than hiking or HH Burley?
Unfortunately this one's already cut off at the knees too... I snagged 4oz of his aromatic before it was nixxed from SP's site but it seems like the rest of them are already done too... haven't seen any back since then. There are one or 2 other sites that still have some but they mention it being not even in factory packaging because they just shipped whatever was left in their factory in a single bulk shipment.

I'd say take a flyer on a pound or 2 if you really like that style.. otherwise I'm sure you'll always be able to sell or trade it away for at least what you paid for it in the future.

Thoughts on it in relations to HH burley or cobblestone hiking?

I've never tried it, just his aromatic from that line. My point is there isn't really enough left for thoughts or indecision lol.. from what I can see it seems like a company with the letters WCC (gotta throw off the "army of lurkers 😂) has the last 35 lbs that will ever be seen on this earth... either buy it now then worry about trading it away if you don't like it or just watch it be sold out to never return... but it was all made by Sutliff

It's akin to saying "I can't get Molto Dolce anymore so I'm going to replace it with D58 Dulce De Leche"
Well okay but in 2 weeks your replacement is going to be gone too because it's made by exactly the same company lol

Naw still 8 pounds left. I’ve been watching it. Got a few pounds already. Led a few others in forum to it as well.
Just wanted a few other smokers thoughts on how it compared to HH burley

I don’t have much straight burley experience so this may be way off base but maybe consider Boswell’s Old School?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the burley blends from Boswell (& Peretti, Uhle’s, WCC) using Sutliff base tobaccos?

It’ll be interesting to see if there’s substantial changes to these as the supply of Sutliff leaf is used up.
